@regularaugust That's true, must have missed the late part.
I hope Perfect Days becomes a cult classic, one of the best films of the 2020s so far.
English

@VenandrVT Oh yeah I got the year wrong but the point was it’s earlier than the window I was referring to. Still it really did put the whole series on the map in wider culture so it works
English

@regularaugust Everywhere online has it listed as coming out August 13th 2010 in the US and later in places like the UK.
It's definitely seeped far and wide into the culture

English

@VenandrVT 2009, but yes that sort of is. I saw it in an empty theater the Friday of the week it released and had no clue it was going to be argued about online over a decade later
English

@GodzillaMendoza I was so disappointed, the film has so much potential but it was clearly hacked up and had a lot removed.
English

Original layout by Shojiro Nishimi & Shinji Kimura for one of the "Tekkonkinkreet" posters (2006).
The film is being re-released in Japan on May 8 (20th anniversary), and some theaters will screen it in 35mm.

For its 20th anniversary, the film "Tekkonkinkreet" is returning to theaters in Japan on May 8. Directed in 2006 by Michael Arias at Studio 4°C. filmaga.filmarks.com/articles/33111…

@joyful_union @bdquinn To be fair
It has been stamped in English, so in a sense, it was

This one crops up every 4-6 months on Twitter and it always seems to be ignored by people that the Thai production plant at which these pear cups are packaged serves more than just the US market.

@mpregsunday_ @clementine0o0 @AraYuannn You've never seen a man who would bring his girlfriend to places uninvited or gives special treatment to women?
This is incredibly common, I'm assuming you just don't have much interaction with straight men
English

@clementine0o0 @AraYuannn The funny part is I never seen a man who’s female Centered. Idk why some women are doing it.
English

male centered is your friend who brings her boyfriend univited, your mother that let's your brothers get away with anything, your teacher that questions you harder than she does your male peers. male centered is not the random fan account for a character/ship you don't like lmao
frank langdon's lacanian psychoanalyst@ferniealism
“male centered women” used to mean something much more political and important than just “women who have a favorite male character”
English

fun fact: we got dressed in Walmart restrooms and a lady asked if we worked at Disney 😭 I said no ma’am we’re going to a concert and she said we looked really cute

@Dredpirater @ocotillo555 @AnonymousLeftie What are you confused about? Californian rappers are very famous and beloved worldwide and have influenced what people think about the state and its enhabitants.
English

ngl its funny how California is over 10% asian but if you followed tv depictions of california you would zero idea
Sturgeon's Law@Sturgeons_Law
Another good example of how "representation" actually works.
English

@VenandrVT @ocotillo555 @AnonymousLeftie LMAOOOOO nigga no one thinks black when they think California unless you think homeless and ghetto gang areas …. Your iq is showing
English

@EM0TH0T @ocotillo555 @AnonymousLeftie That's not true at all. Songs like California Love and California Gurls are huge worldwide.
Even google "person from california" and Snoop Dogg is one of the first pictures lol

English

@VenandrVT @ocotillo555 @AnonymousLeftie u made that up, people barely acknowledge the existence of black people in CA
English

@thehorsecharles It does need to be that high, otherwise the copyright owners would not sell the rights to them.
That's how this works, it's negotiated between 2 parties. One a Japanese company who owns the copyright and the other company trying to distribute the manga.
English

@VenandrVT Yes but my point is it’s a made up number that does not need to be that high.
English

@thehorsecharles @scratchthatout International release companies don't set the price for distribution rights. Only the copyright holders can set the price.
English

@VenandrVT @scratchthatout Translation costs are not that expensive when they pay translators a one time fee 😭 so it’s the distribution prices which btw THEY SET
English

@Flick00wens @thoka_2 you never hear about any of these growing up? I find that very hard to believe

English

@sarca_sc You complained that lip sync is bad and an inherent problem with western animation.
I say that in general, Western animation has better lip syncing than Japanese.
Now you're making excuses as to why that is? I don't understand what point you're trying to make here.
English

@VenandrVT By looking worse in general TV commercial animation? Also they're two fundamentally different systems, western style records the voice lines before the animation work starts rather than vice versa.
