@Yas_Wisden Could there not be a dynamic introduced for the teams whereby your highest bid/salary can only be multiple x of the lowest salary? E.g If multiplier is 3 when you bid 150k for highest, your lowest player must earn 50k, 100k - 25k etc. Puts a floor and cap on the salaries

Headlines may suggest better pay for all involved but that is not the case across the board. Emma Lamb, who had a decent campaign in 2025, has seen her salary drop from £50k to £27.5k.

@SkyCricket I'd say maybe, but can only happen during either teams 1st Innings, and the teams have to provide a list of who would replace who at the toss, which would have to be validated by umpires and opposition captain to ensure like for like. Would mean bigger squads.

@airindia You've responded but done absolutely nothing to tell me you have acknowledged what you deem as working practice is acceptable. Aside from your moronic and appalling rescheduling, a 9 hr delay and all you give me was 2 bits of bread and a bottle of water as sustenance... 9 hrs!!

@airindia I have the worst travel experience of my life with you, and then whilst trying to contact you to follow up, you keep giving me 'an error occurred' and hanging up my call to your chat bot. Unbelievably poor.

@TheBarmyArmy To the tune of Yankee Doodle The Saffas, they had Graeme Smith, The Aussies that failed leggie. He's the only Smith i want in my team and his name, it is Jamie!

@SAAdvantage Be intrigued on your view on Somerset. Last 4 standings read as: Lost Final (2021) Lost Semi (2022) Won (2023) Lost Final (2024) Clearly doing something very right despite not having flashiest names (to my never ending glee! Don't want England poaching our players)

@SAAdvantage The average ranking imply that Bat and Ball are of equal weighting. Surely that is not always the case and varies across leagues. Not that they are not both important, but a, e.g. 55% 45% split on Ball and Bat - leagues dependant

Latest update of my IPL Table of Justice - shown in the image on this tweet. This shows the league position which a team’s performances in a tournament merit - this is available for any league in any format of cricket. This, and all of my upcoming products, use learned historical data - in this case to align current teams with established drivers of success. So, for example, if a team is top of my table of justice such as GT so far in this year’s IPL, it’s because their current performances align well with successful teams of the past. All teams are rated as a percentage. Any team with a percentage over 100% means that they are outperforming vital metrics which align with historically successful teams. Conversely, any team with a percentage below 100% means that they are underperforming relative benchmarks set by historically successful teams. For example - this season, SRH are struggling with both bat and ball. Their batting issues are, to a degree, driven from a lack of stability which is the opposite of successful teams in the IPL - hence their batting rating being so low. Their low bowling score was, in part, driven by their death bowling. However, you can see that SRH's rating has improved 6.24% in the last week, with the batting in their win over PBKS being a big factor in this. Another example - at over 30% higher, PBKS batting is above average but the performance of their bowling group this season was rated the worst in the tournament by some distance. This led to a drop to 8th in the Table of Justice for PBKS and unless their bowling dramatically improves, I'd expect them to struggle to qualify. I’ll be updating this Table of Justice regularly as the season continues in order to give insight into which teams have underlying data showing them to be better or worse than their actual results suggest. Also available soon will be a full ranking system of players for any league (starting with the IPL), and a little further down the line will be my long-term vision of the holy grail for cricket analytics - a full player pricing model which will be able to show a fair market price (differentiated by league) for any professional cricketer in the world. Essentially, I will be able to provide the exact market price for any player to any team in any league, in order to help them guard against overpaying for players, as well as to help them hunt for undervalued players. As mentioned previously, all of my upcoming products use learned historical data to create outputs - giving an independent and unbiased output for cricket teams worldwide, the media and other organisations. To register early interest in any of these, or to discuss further, please email sportsanalyticsadvantage@gmail.com.

@SAAdvantage With the abundance of boundaries hit last season, and record scores, how would you expect the bowling strategy to evolve this year to combat it. More aggressive fields to take wickets? Accept the impact sub extends batting line ups so focus on boundary preventing balls/fields

@SAAdvantage Your thoughts on the selection, or not, of players from certain counties. The Surrey's, Lancashire's, etc seem to fill most squads with 'trendy names' but the, arguably, better performing counties, Hampshire, Essex, Somerset don't get in. Merit, stats, vibes, golf, mates club...

Writing a big deep dive into the England national team setup tomorrow - not just ODIs but how these performances are a symptom of bigger decisions and thought processes. Any areas you’d like me to spend time focusing on? Any questions?

This got us thinking… With our Team Builder tool you can compare teams giving you a win% based on playing 1000 games. We compiled two (mostly!) different England teams from the Blast that might be able to compete, using no WC players. We couldn't quite get over the 50% line!

@AucklandCharlie That’s a really good question. I think there’s definitely scope to create a team which at least would win 50% of matches over the long run.
