I don't know why anyone would ever be surprised that Trump's had success turning Catholics into blasphemers and turning them against the Pope. He got them to turn against their families and friends a long time ago.

Border czar Tom Homan, to question on Trump feud with Pope Leo XIV: "I'm speaking for myself, a lifelong Catholic. I wish they'd stay out of immigration…If they understood the atrocities that happen on an open border, I think their opinion would change."

I'm from a small Midwestern farming town, many residents of which STILL have Trump 2020/24 signs up. The number 1 thing I hear complaints about that the Libs think they're dumb. Accurate or not, NO ONE thinks MAGA is as grass-eatingly stupid as Donald Trump does.

Q: Did you post that picture of yourself as Jesus Christ? Trump: I did post it, I thought it was me as a doctor. It's supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better. And I do make people better

It's almost impressive how Republicans understand nothing about history and are somehow managing to repeat it almost verbatim

Republican message for the midterms: - The Pope is weak on crime - Gas prices might go up, that's OK - Donald Trump is literally Jesus Christ

Headed back to the States, and not hugely enthusiastic about the prospect. Eternally grateful for the last 10 days, though. #Italy, in case I don't see you: good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight.

It even got to the point where the President of the United States (!) openly promised, on social media (!!), to give Hungarian voters money (!!!) if they chose Orban as prime minister. Just think about it for a moment. This is political corruption turned up to the absolute maximum, displayed with a level of brazenness and shamelessness the world has never seen before.

Orbán is basically a complete and total piece of shit, and even he can accept an election loss. It really makes Trump a uniquely garbage human being that he can’t admit he lost to Biden in 2020.

I assume Orban conceded because the opposition's victory is too staggeringly large to deny. It's important for us to remember that, were he in Orban's position, Trump would never concede, no matter how large the margin.
Anne Applebaum@anneapplebaum

Orban concedes defeat. The support of Trump, Vance, Putin, Lavrov, Weidel, Milei, Le Pen, Fico, Babis and many others could not overcome Hungarian anger at a stagnant, corrupt regime #block-69dbf1ff8f08ff62487f805e" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">theguardian.com/world/live/202…

The absurd Orban claims of fraud and foreign interference are gonna be a good preview of GOP claims of fraud and foreign interference after the mid-terms.

I don't know. I think the main takeaway is that having an ignorant, impulsive, easily manipulable president who could not be bothered to make the case for war to the public nor plan for the obvious consequences is really, really bad.
Max Abrahms@MaxAbrahms

The main takeaway from the Iran war is that American domestic politics is the greatest impediment to US military success. Our military put on a clinic but American constituencies have done everything possible to prevent a win. China is smiling watching America’s pundit imbeciles.

As a stereotypical middle-aged man who loves reading about WWII, the stories about Hitler's generals constantly warning him that he's making a huge mistake only for him to do it anyway (sometimes BECAUSE he and his enomrous ego were warned against it), seem apropos in April 2026.
Elizabeth Hagedorn@ElizHagedorn

To summarize: • US Navy will blockade Strait of Hormuz • Will interdict vessels that paid Iran a toll • Will destroy mines laid by Iran • "Other countries" will be involved in blockade • "The Blockade will begin shortly."
