@AudioMutual@Sassygal1971 It is why our laws are different than yours, and it's why our countries look at this differently as well.
So yes, it's relevant.
"castle doctrine" no longer exists for you people. Even in your home, you have the duty to retreat. We don't.
@CrandleRobert@Sassygal1971 Yes. We're very grateful for our gun laws in Canada as are the rest of the western world:
In 2023, the U.S. firearm homicide rate was 4.56 per 100,000, compared to 0.88 in Canada
@CrandleRobert@Sassygal1971 Thank you for advocating that people should take self defence courses. Not only does it protect them from RARE chance of being attacked, but it also helps with their health and confidence without killing someone and ending a life.
@AudioMutual@Sassygal1971 Someone walks up to you and tries to strangle you to death....
Are you going to 'go gentle into that good night' or are you going to fight to stay alive?
Even Canada's law doesn't call defense of self or family murder.

@davidallenwest#communitynotes Misleading. That there is a single, neatly defined, new “$56 billion energy deal” only on LNG and nuclear, as implied by the graphic. The real arrangements are a bundle of investments and pledges across several energy sectors
🇨🇦 - IF Pierre P is not our next PM, then Plan A is below or Plan B is Sask,Alta and B.C. join the USA
After over 100 years of being screwed by Ontario, Quebec and Laurentian Elite idiots, the West needs to prosper on our own
Canadians are unhappy all the time because they’re broke.
As a Canadian, my travels to the U.S. have had no issues.
Anyone that says otherwise is lying - they don’t know.
Americans are 100% friendlier, and more tolerant than Canadians right now.
It’s not even close.
@AudioMutual@Sassygal1971 My dogs are pets, not guard dogs.
'They are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable, including Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness'
That has specific limits and crossing those limits loses the individual(s) the protection those rights would afford them.
@CrandleRobert@Sassygal1971 I don't arm myself to prepare for winter storms. The same reason, I don't arm myself in preparation of needing to shoot another human being in defence of my house. I have dogs. I have surveillance cameras. And I have ways to protect myself without killing people.
Why don't you?
@CrandleRobert@Sassygal1971 No one has said you don't have the right to defend your home by not being armed to the teeth. Studies once again show- and I know those are hated by gun owners- you're better off with a dog for protection and nasty signs that suggest your dog will attack all intruders.
@AudioMutual@Sassygal1971 No it isn't. Surrendering your right to self defense is choosing to become a victim.
I'd understand if you were Islamic and wanted to become a martyr, but other than that, it's senseless.
@CrandleRobert@Sassygal1971 I don't prepare for bad winter storms by arming myself. You know of course that the stats have been in for decades that gun owners are more likely to kill someone in their household than an intruder right? If you're there to prevent risk. Don't bring the risk into your home.
@AudioMutual@Sassygal1971 The reality is that no government in the world is able to ensure the safety of all the individuals that live in it.
I understand being willing and able to stick your head in the sand and assume nothing bad is ever going to happen...
Do you prepare for bad winter storms?
