@niccruzpatane Doesn’t this mean it has to do a wipe first before it knows? Thereby meaning that the ghost wipe is still going to continue happening? Normally it only happens once anyway so this might mean it’ll stop sooner when actually raining, but not the ghost wipe.

Tesla AI Sr. Staff Engineer says Tesla has implemented a new software based Auto-Wiper system that uses the wiper motor itself as a tactile sensor. Instead of relying solely on the front cameras, the system estimates the physical friction between the rubber wiper blade and the glass by analyzing the motor’s electrical power consumption. The system will also automatically enable the defroster when high friction is detected, such as frost or ice. Additionally, it keeps a long-term friction level average to warn when wiper replacements are necessary due to higher than normal friction. Smart stuff! I suspect this system will get better over time with OTA updates.

Today Nonna and I test drove 5 (waste of time hybrids) and a Tesla Model Y. Didn’t expect this… but the Tesla was her favourite. Felt more planted than anything else. Smoother to drive. Navigation was effortless, and the satellite view genuinely impressed her. Hybrids felt familiar… but the Tesla felt right. She even drove to a Supercharger so I could walk her through charging mid grocery run. We’re nearly there. Charging will be the final hurdle.

My 81-year-old grandmother is finally upgrading her 2016 Subaru Forester. She’s set on getting a “hybrid” 🙄. This weekend we’re test driving a few hybrids… then finishing the day in a Model Y. Her only hesitation with going fully electric is charging. She lives in an apartment, so home charging isn’t really an option. Her nearest Supercharger is just a few km away, in an underground supermarket car park. We all know how seamless the Tesla experience is… but this is the final hurdle. If you’ve been in a similar situation, how did you convince someone that public charging is enough?

@LJMBAU @aelluswamy Unfortunately, I see v14 coming before HW3 . I think v14 will be a pathway to v14 lite that will then be provided as the interim to HW3. So as much as I’d love to say get HW3 in on FSD. I don’t think it’s the way. Not for lack of willing it though.

@AusTeslaOwners @aelluswamy You should be advocating for HW3 first, majority of ‘Australian Tesla Owners’ have HW3 remember.

This is the ballsiest thing I’ve seen FSD do in my car. It threaded the needle passing between two cars in the Costco parking lot and then parked itself right after. This is the most human like behavior I’ve seen with FSD so far.

Just blocked @RealDanODowd. The amount of ridiculous, snipped and select, fake news he spouts about Tesla is unreal! “It’s not for personal gain, I’ve never made a cent off anything I’ve posted about Tesla.” Yeah, right. Ok, our ‘white knight’ and saviour! I don’t believe you!

@Tesla_App_iOS Typical nerd humour. Haha some of the comments you see in scripts and coding are right out there. I’d love to see the coding of the infotainment system and the older FSD. Perfect time for an Easter Egg though.

@techAU We already have it in QLD and we have a battery so we use that time to charge the Tesla and the battery so we get free energy through the night too. We also feed back into the grid for a few hours during the peak times to help offset the grid. It’s great!

@silver19623 @techAU Yes, exactly. For what some people spend in petrol, you could quite honestly put towards your repayment to pay off your finance instead. Not to mention there’s no servicing requirements other than tyre replacement, wiper replacement, and washer fluid. It really is genius.

@jdq @tesla_na @SawyerMerritt @cybertruck This has been released in Australia for some time already. It will only stop the first button attempt and puts a notice on the screen, and plays a noise. The second press I believe (going off memory here) it will allow the door to open.

@tesla_na @SawyerMerritt @cybertruck What if there is a fire in the vehicle cab and you need to get out immediately but the sensor detects a cyclist coming who would get doored if you opened the door, does the Tesla choose the cyclist over you burning alive?
