⭕️ AIPAC, Israel Lobby Take Center Stage at Michigan Senate Debate Three candidates vying for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat clashed Thursday night at a debate hosted by the Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit and Vicinity at Messiah Baptist Church, with AIPAC influence and the war on Gaza surfacing repeatedly. Abdul El-Sayed said he was “proud to be the only person on this stage not supported by the Israel lobby.” He also targeted Mallory McMorrow over her AIPAC position paper — first reported by Drop Site News — which a pro-Israel donor called “outstanding” on a call obtained by Drop Site. McMorrow has since said she will not take AIPAC money. The three-way race — El-Sayed, McMorrow, and Rep. Haley Stevens — is a dead heat ahead of the August 4 primary, according to Drop Site/Zeteo reporting. Stevens, who has accepted more than $5 million in AIPAC-linked support, defended taking the funding. The debate drew little press and no public audience, as it was limited to clergy. 🎥 Video from the debate was captured by @samueljrob. ⬇️

We spoke to reporter Zaynab Faraj, who survived a triple-tap attack that killed her colleague, Amal Khalil. She described how an Israeli strike first hit a car ahead of them, killing two civilians, before a second strike targeted their own vehicle, severely injuring Amal. Ms Faraj said she helped her into an empty house, where they lay wounded and terrified, waiting for help. A third Israeli strike then hit the building where they were hiding, collapsing it on top of them. “Amal was gone,” Ms Faraj said. “And I was left alone.” Throughout the ordeal, the journalists made repeated calls for help. But Israel prevented the Lebanese Army and the Lebanese Red Cross from reaching them, informed sources told us.
