I guess this is equivalent of BBC1 stopping all programming to cover the test. 2 further commercial radio stations also cover the tests ball by ball with ads - presumably profitably.

@kieren_rees @bbctms I just did some googling. Ashes tests this year wasn’t broadcast on any AM/FM radio At all. TMS was digital only & Sky behind paywall. So no free casual access for a new fan to discover the sport. My estimate of 30 years till commercially dead looking too long .

@kieren_rees @bbctms Bahaha - there are no laws preventing it. But test cricket will be commercially dead in England in <30 years as fans created pre 2005 age out. Sky doesn’t pay big bucks for irrelevant unpopular sports, and free tv doesn’t broadcast them either.
