@cricketingview ??? Aus doesn’t play 4 fast bowlers in Australia. 3 fast bowlers, Lyon, and a few overs from an all rounders if needed is normal.

@CountDankulaTV Have you included 13.8% employer NI in your calc? Suspect you missed that one.

His show wasn’t even slightly funny, he dated a 17-year-old high school student at 38, Steve Bannon gets royalties on the show and now this. Well beyond time to stop watching Seinfeld #freepalestine 🇵🇸

@cricket_broken Your point is still largely valid - but the BBL salary cap is 3m AUD so 2m USD not 1.25m

A North Queensland resident, and quite possibly the most Australian man of all time, has summed up the She'll Be Right attitude flood affected residents have been gamely carrying with them though the disaster. In a moment captured on film that's already garnering widespread adoration, local resident 'Jonesy' was approached by fellow resident and accidental flood documenter Gavin Dear. Dear's videos, which have shown the resiliency of the region, have been viewed countless times. And Jonesy's moment may be the best of the lot. Approaching Jonesy's house in a boat to check on his wellbeing, Dear was greeted by the shirtless lord remarking "Yeah nah, bloody... s'all good." Not a bad attitude to have in the face of record-setting floods, all things considered.

England home Tests on free-to-air TV? 🏏 It's part of a proposed law change. The bill would likely need the support of government to progress.

@kieren_rees @bbctms Re radio context - the main public radio station across the whole of Australia broadcast tests. I guess this is equivalent of BBC1 stopping all programming to cover the test. 2 further commercial radio stations also cover the tests ball by ball with ads - presumably profitably.

@kieren_rees @bbctms I just did some googling. Ashes tests this year wasn’t broadcast on any AM/FM radio At all. TMS was digital only & Sky behind paywall. So no free casual access for a new fan to discover the sport. My estimate of 30 years till commercially dead looking too long .

@kieren_rees @bbctms You are proving my point - per you not enough people in England would want to watch it. Whereas in Australia free to air TV stations fight for the free TV rights, fox sports separately cover for cable, & 3 separate radio stations cover the tests.

@AussieInLondn @bbctms Test cricket will be commercially dead in England. 😆 That will never happen. Which free to air channel will empty 9 hours a day for five days to show test cricket?

@kieren_rees @bbctms Bahaha - there are no laws preventing it. But test cricket will be commercially dead in England in <30 years as fans created pre 2005 age out. Sky doesn’t pay big bucks for irrelevant unpopular sports, and free tv doesn’t broadcast them either.

The Americans have been here before. US General Douglas MacArthur made it very clear it wasn't due to "friendship" but for its "strategical importance" alone, that Australia was selected as a base for US military operations in 1942: "Though the American people were animated by a warm friendship for Australia, their purpose in building up forces in the Commonwealth was not so much from an interest in Australia, but rather from its utility as a base from which to hit Japan. "In view of the strategical importance of Australia in a war with Japan, this course of military action would probably be followed irrespective of the American relationship to the people who might be occupying Australia." awm.gov.au/visit/events/c… #AUKUS #ANZUS

A massive US military base has been approved for Perth, by stealth. The US finally gets its hands on the HMAS Stirling naval base in Perth for its long-coveted Indian Ocean submarine base — under the ‘we are helping you’ #AUKUS con. “Over 700 United States Personnel”, plus families, plus UK personnel, plus support personnel — oh yeah, and plus those 4 US nuclear subs, plus one extra sub from the UK — oh yeah, and plus the new nuclear waste storage facility to be built on Defence land in Perth — oh yeah, and plus the no-doubt planned Emergency Response Nuclear Clean-up Squad and Decontamination Unit. And don’t forget the dozens of nuclear missile warheads perfectly safely carried on each American submarine now to be based —on ‘rotation’ of course — in Perth. And — as you’d expect — such a massive new US nuclear submarine base will be added to the ‘Chinese defensive hypersonic missile targeting database’. And — in the new tradition of us paying for our own subjugation — it’s costing Australia $8 billion to upgrade the naval base for them. @PeterCronau What great news - Aussie government delivering defence capabilities ! This will give China’s communist authoritarians yet another reason to think twice before threatening Aus. Thanks for letting us know the good news!!
