The tunnel below is in Uganda not Dubai. Uganda’s FY2026/27 Budget made one thing clear that infrastructure remains a national priority. The Government allocated approximately UGX 4.17 trillion to the roads subsector, including UGX 3.63 trillion for national roads and UGX 330.34 billion for District, Urban and Community Access Roads (DUCAR), a significant increase from the previous financial year. This funding will support the upgrading of about 698 km of roads, completion of 257 km of ongoing projects, and construction of approximately 299 km of new roads. Key projects include the Kampala-Jinja Expressway, Muyembe-Nakapiripirit Road, Apac-Lira-Puranga Road, and Tororo-Busia Road. Beyond roads, the wider transport sector has received UGX 8.79 trillion to strengthen Uganda’s connectivity and economic competitiveness. Good roads are not just about transport, they reduce the cost of doing business, improve access to markets, attract investment, enhance national security, and connect communities to essential services such as healthcare and education.
