@Zack_Pearson Nobody can overcome an 0-2 deficit with 160 games left on the schedule. I always thought everyone knew that.

Season isn't even 24 hours old.

The Cubs weren't in midseason form in their 10-4 loss to the Nationals on Opening Day. Rest assured, Dustin is in midseason form with his Cubs takes. "On Saturday, March 28, we are going to have the earliest must-win statement game by the Cubs," he says.

@MLBGuyRocked If you make a video about this guy, New Girl Now by Honeymoon Suite would be the perfect song.

@mike_petriello @CarlsBeef @WeatherApplied I had an aisle seat right at the top of the section here. Everyone including myself jumped up thinking the ball was coming right at us.

Yesterday, Ian Happ hit an absolute tank for a home run. 109 off the bat. 32 deg LA.
.. except, he didn't. Thanks to our friends at @WeatherApplied, we know that the wind cost him *113 feet* of distance -- which is now the largest stop in the data.

Cold weather with a 20-plus mph wind gust coming out of the north, rain off and on during the game, losing by 4 runs in the 9th (which became a 6 run deficit), and forecast for heavy rain and severe storms approaching the area. Yeah… a lot of people headed for an early exit.
Also keep in mind, a lot of inexperienced fans dressed for the weather they felt in the morning, when it was a mild 70 degrees, as opposed to preparing for the cold front that eventually came through after they opened the gates. The temps continued to drop throughout the game. So I suspect a lot of those who left early were the ones were unprepared for the drop in temperature.

Opening Day for the Cubs and barely anyone is in attendance. #This is pathetic.
English

@thescorechicago If they get swept at home to start the season, that’s when I’ll be concerned.
English

For teams with a retractable roof stadium, agreed. Don’t need a built in off day to mitigate potential inclement weather. But if you schedule it the day after most other teams have their opening day, I would suspect people would complain about that as well (not saying you personally would complain, just people in general).
English

@DoctorLemma That’s a great story and everything. And I’m happy for the man. But couldn’t he have just used a digital voice recorder to capture the message as backup just in case he lost the original answering machine message? He had 11 years to mitigate that possibility.
English

For eleven years, a 68-year-old retired forklift truck driver from Mirfield, England began each day by listening to his late wife's voice on their home answering machine message.
She had passed away from cancer in 2003. He never changed phone companies. Every time a new provider offered him a better deal, he asked the same question: if I switch, will her voice be kept? The answer was always no. So he stayed.
Then in December 2014, Virgin Media, his telephone provider, deleted the message during routine technical work.
Stan Beaton described the moment he found out as one of the worst of his life. "I just could not tell people how it affected me," he told BBC Radio Leeds. "It really did devastate me."
He contacted Virgin Media and told them what had happened. The executive director of engineering later described the task of finding it as searching for a needle in a haystack. The chances of recovery, he said, were slim.
A team of engineers spent three days searching through archived servers anyway.
They found it.
Virgin Media sent Stan a CD with the recording. He broke down in tears the moment he heard her voice again.
Is there a voice you would do anything to hear one more time?

@BronxBmbrz I always wonder if bro watches his own content afterwards and admires his reactions.

Do people actually spend their time watching this

The Cubs lose the Season Opener😭

@ChiSoxFanMike @SoxSideJustin Only the diehards stay until the end. No matter the score. No matter the weather. Today… I died HARD as a fan.

English

@SoxSideJustin They’ll say “but it was cold and rainy” as if they don’t constantly post pictures of Sox Park in April when it’s cold and rainy
English

@skumWgmi That’s how it was designed by the elites. Make the peasants work until they get to finally enjoy retirement. Then die the moment they get there. Then the elites sit back like the Jerry Seinfeld eating popcorn meme, “that’s a shame.”
English

@DAVEXEETS I think the 3 hole is like a seniority thing. Happ is the longest tenured Cubs player, so he gets the 3 hole. I know it sounds stupid, but wouldn’t be surprised if that was the deciding factor.

@BachelorJoker @BrianAtlas What they really wanted was to be seen as some sort of victim. That’s what gets them the clicks, the attention, the validation.
English

@BrianAtlas Women told men for over a decade to stop telling them what to do, or to ask them out.
Now they're complaining men don't ask them out or tell them what to do.
They really don't like it when they get what they want do they?

@dom_lucre I bet the robot didn’t even come here legally, either.

Been watching Joker’s content since the pandemic days. Helped me accept my reality and focus better with my life journey. Mentally I’m in a much better place now, even though it can still be a struggle at times.

Been thinking about this. It’s the first day of the MLB season because there is that one Netflix game tomorrow night. But it’s not “Opening Day.”
Joe Orrico@JoeOrrico99
We aren’t calling tomorrow “opening day”, right?
English

@naiivememe Bro I was 6 in 1996 now I’m 106. Let that sink in.
