@Ciri_VT Yeah, I would always recommend checking local laws for these things because, for example, in Alabama you need a business license to sell merch, even online sales. But in some other states you don't apparently.

Good information! The issue is that “business account” still means you are using a business/payment tool. Whether you are a sole proprietor, DBA, LLC, or another structure depends on where you live and how your work is set up. A business account is still a business/payment account. If you use it for creator income, commissions, invoices, or client work, you need to understand the tax/reporting, recordkeeping. It is not just “switch account type and now your name is hidden”...as OP had stated in their post.

DO NOT LIE TO PayPal or misrepresent a business identity! I do want to be clear. I do not think OP meant harm. I think they were trying to share something they believed would help people protect their privacy. A PayPal Business account is not a fake name shield. It is a financial account tied to business activity, tax reporting, identity verification, and compliance rules. You do not need to be an LLC in every case. Sole proprietors and freelancers can be real businesses too. Different countries have different rules. Different business structures exist. Sole proprietors exist. DBAs exist. LLCs exist. Some people may have legal ways to protect their privacy. Because once you start mixing personal spending, fake business details, tax information, payment processor rules, and privacy concerns together, you are no longer doing a cute internet hack. You are creating a financial mess. Protect your privacy, yes. But do it properly. Do not gamble with your payment account, your money, your tax situation, or your ability to take commissions because someone made a cheerful thread sound easy.

@SuperSweetLucas I use Ai for some things, some things I've commissioned, and some I made myself without Ai. I'm slowly replacing the Ai stuff with commissioned stuff, but seeing all the entitled posts and people flaming for it makes me want to pay my own bills and tell those artists to get a job

If you're a "VTuber" and someone calls you out for using AI and you BLOCK them???? Yeah, you know what you're doing. You know you're shitting on your artists. And you just won't allow criticism over your shitty decision. I hope all artists blacklist you. :)

Hey for those who post tiktok/shorts how long are your vids? Because I want to post everyday but I just dont have the time to edit mintue long vids, so I can I get away with editing twitch clips that are 30 seconds long?

@N3BST4R @StreamWithMeld I could be wrong, but don't Streamlabs and Streamelements have Ai tools as well? Ai is just a computer program that mixes a bunch of common tools that we use every day into one. I really don't get the issue.

So.. I guess all the streamers that left @StreamWithMeld because of their new AI tool Spark (that was totally optional BTW) need to find a new streaming program bc it's now a optional plugin for OBS 🤣. I love this.

I'm trying to get better at editing videos and shorts. Would you guys say Capcut is pretty good? How does it stack up to the competition? What software do you use to edit videos?

@Galidrum I feel that, I'm still using a Gtx 1080 and I want to throw my pc in the trash half of the time I try to stream.

I’ve now reached a point in my content that I need a 4090 or 5090 to properly run it as I have it setup. Having to use a source record plugin on OBS to record 2 different sources plus streaming just pushes my Pc to its limits and repeatedly crashes my stream…. Been super frustrating

I don't think I want to be a Vtuber anymore, after I finish renovating our house I think I want to use a Webcam for my streams. The atmosphere in the vtuber community is entirely too messy and toxic.

@Velkyen I do not watch short form content myself, but I do use shorts and tiktok to share my stream clips. I look at it as an advertisement for my streams more than anything, because I really wouldn't even know what to make a video that short about.

Im gonna be completely honest, idk if its a hot take but its my opinion. I think short format/vertical content is probably one of the worst formats that have ever existed and i actually despise it as a form of content. Yes i still make them, but thats because its the norm. Do i enjoy making them? Absolutely not. Not only are they a nightmare to edit but it also just encapsulates a lot of people in this doomscrolling/addicting mindset. It has ruined the attention span for a lot of people and its very easy to waste so much time on something like shorts. You don’t have to agree or disagree, its just my take on the current climate of online video creation.
