@Austin_Shenton I mean if you just read through the post I linked you’d see the sample size. Again, think he’s a very good player who I am happy to have on my favorite team, which is what the whole post was about in the first place.

Xavier Neyens has monster power along with terrific plate discipline. Development area will be making more consistent contact. But, my goodness, he can CRUSH.

@foreverstros How many events is this from? Whats the sample size? You go watch a game and see a guy for 1 singular game you may see 6-8 swing and misses. That’s why we play 150+. He’s a rare talent. Him at 21 is unbelievable.

@Austin_Shenton I mean scouts have made note of it and there is real data that his in-zone contact is on the lower end. Doesn’t mean I don’t think he’s a good player already and can’t develop to get even better.

@ZackSilverman18 What are the actual numbers Zack? I’ve hit with the kid since he was 11. If he’s in California he’s a top 5 pick.

Astros get a big bat in Xavier Neyens. Another model friendly guy with huge power, doesn't chase, can get into late-count trouble. Big guy with sneaky athleticism, if Astros can clean him up in the zone he's a middle of the order thumper.

Astros scouting director Cam Pedino said Xavier Neyens controls the zone really well for a HS hitter and has great bat speed. "He's the type of guy who's going to get on base, hit and do a lot of damage." He called him middle-of-the-order potential bat.

@TheAstrosLocker Xavier will make an impact in a couple of years. His approach is pro ready.

I hope the Astros go with Xavier Neyens at 21, but Dana's comments make it sounds like the team is targeting a college bat ready to make an impact in the next 2 years.
