This time last week I was at the brilliant #TheakstonsCrime. By Sunday, Mum (91) had fallen and broken her knee and is no longer safe to return to her own home 😪 She is doing brilliantly 🌟 (hot pink glitter full leg cast) but navigating the care system is exhausting. 😢

Starting from being an only child in rainy Lancashire through my entire life, books and reading have been a joy and a delight. Huge shout out to our wonderful public libraries and indie bookshops who feed that delight on a daily basis

I have been raving about #TheTrialsofMarjorieCrowe since publication - a bit of a fan-girl of Marjorie's tbh! What an absolute delight it was yesterday to meet @CraigRobertson_ the creator of the wonderful Marjorie and to talk to him about his absolutely brilliant book.

Caught up with the wonderful @JaneCaseyAuthor and equally fab @FionaAnnCummins at Harrogate yesterday. It was great to talk books, libraries and catch up on last year's #AuthorRecommends project in Skipton library. Thank you both for your continuing support 🤗

I have had an amazing morning talking to some of the authors who contributed to the #AuthorRecommends project that was conceived at @HarrogateFest 23 for Skipton library customers and is now on tour in 21 branches in North Yorks. Even more authors are participating this year ❤️

It’s going to be an exciting few days but the best part is always meeting new people. Devastated to be missing my heartland festival #TheakstonsCrime this weekend. From that first hurrah 21 years ago to now, this has been the highlight of my summer but impending back surgery means I'll have to sit this one out... Have a great time, first-timers and regulars!
