Writing a blog post including a section about good jobs for autistic people. If you're autistic (or know of anyone who is) can you comment to say what your job is or if you're currently unemployed. Really appreciate the help :-) #ActuallyAutistic #asperger

@ianmccleave Thanks for the reply, it's really appreciated. A data analyst sounds like a brilliant job to me.

@Autism_guideUK I work as a data analyst which sounds quite stereotypical but I have met many autistic people who are very artistic which surprised me. The journey since diagnosis throws up new insights everyday

@Autism_guideUK Just to add to an earlier response, I felt my social and communication skills held me back to a degree in my career progression and created difficulties for me with interviews. With the right support, I had a better idea of how to approach interviews. stephensevolution.com/autism-and-the…

@Autism_guideUK What I do now is home based, selling sports clothing and related items on ebay, including recording keeping. I'm blogging about my life on the autism spectrum, aiming to provide hope to other people. I'm an aspiring children's author too.

@my_witzend Thanks for the reply. That sounds like a decent job and a good way to get around transportation issues.

@Autism_guideUK I know of a person who’s job is a surgical technician that preps/tidies surgery at local regional hospital. They attended local community college to get certified and rely on parents for transportation to and from work

@Autism_guideUK I worked in research science until burning out in my late thirties (not unusual for ASD?). Realistically could not cope working f/t again, so access to benefits that support me to still work p/t makes real difference. Now work p/t as consultant on countryside access issues.

@kestrelct Thanks for the reply. Sounds like an amazing job. I'm a Teaching Assistant and work with young adults with disabilities. Many with autism and ADHD that I find I click with really well too.

@Autism_guideUK I’m a tutor. I work one-on-one with kids over zoom, mostly on reading, but I have some math students. I have some dyslexia-specific training so I see a lot of dyslexic kids, and I click well with autistic and adhd kids. I don’t like adults but kids are much better.
