@SandyofSuffolk I have both autism and ADHD and was in school around the same time. They were definitely around, just not understood or diagnosed. My diagnosis came aged 52

I went to school 1963 to 1975. In all of that time, I never came across another child who had: ADHD; Autism; Anxiety; Obesity; Confusion over their gender; What changed? Social media? The Internet? Parenting? Teaching? What?

He says she was "nailing it" ⏬️ GB News did their best to dress up the rest of the programme as debate which may be enough for @ofcom not to consider a breach. Who knows? Meanwhile GB News -has suspended 3 presenters in 2 days -has an investigation of its own into Wootton/Fox broadcast - and Ofcom admits it has 12 ongoing investigations Into the channel. Rocky days

@motiblackart Like most autistic/ADHD people, I’ve been in awkward social situations many times. Not for a long while though, think it’s the number of things I’m out of my comfort zone with. Camping, poor facilities for personal hygiene, noise and chaos are all triggers. Got too confident

@motiblackart My diagnosis helped so much. Understanding someone is easier when one has something to go on. It’s more than a label and it has given us a relationship based on totally honesty and openness

@motiblackart Fortunately I now have a fabulous partner who says no for me. She understands my need to help and does, occasionally say I should do it but I’ve learned to listen to her guidance.

@motiblackart So wish I had an answer, tell myself so many times to learn to say no but, when I know I can help and make a difference I can’t step back. Never known if it’s connected to Autism or if I’m just a giver

@draevans I’ve found that everyone #ActuallyAutistic that I’ve met has been different. Different experiences, coping mechanisms but with things I can identify with. I’ve also found High-functioning to be a controversial tag. It’s my diagnosis but I’ve had some negative reaction

I read a long thread this morning about #profound autism. There were bits I disagreed with. There were bits that outraged me. Then I thought about it. Autism is complex. Do the current DSM definitions works for everyone? Opinions please! (If you are rude you will be blocked)
