A physician who spends 20 minutes with a patient is considered wasteful. A hospital that runs 14 committees to approve a formulary change is considered rigorous. We have confused process with value and called it reform.

Are we getting the best and the brightest medical students from other countries? Not if they’re cheating. A major entry test (USMLE) cheating scandal was uncovered out of Nepal in 2024.

According to Barak Ravid of Axios, Turkey, Pakistan, and Egypt have been playing a key mediation role between the U.S. and Iran in the past two days. Ravid, citing a U.S. source with knowledge on the matter, said that officials from all three countries have held separate talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and White House Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

According to U.S. President Donald J. Trump, following what he describes as “very good and productive” talks with Iranian decision-makers, he has instructed the Department of War to halt all strikes on Iranian power and energy infrastructure for a five day period.

1) He just TACO'd from his 48-hour threat to bomb energy/power stations in Iran. 2) The war will continue. 3) No such talks happened, he made it up as an excuse to TACO out of his threat.

BREAKING: Trump declares on Truth Social that he has postponed "military strikes against Iranian power plants" for 5 days, after "productive" talks with Tehran. In other words, someone on his team was honest with him about what Iran would do to the region if he attacked...

This is once in several generations crisis. We are not even able to comprehend, not to speak of measure, the scale and scope of multiplicative effects emerging from this war and bringing about global system rupture.
