I am looking for people who would like to play a game about autistic inertia for my research. Sessions will take place in Manchester and take about 1.5 hours. You will receive a small reimbursement for your time. Email karenleneh.buckle@manchester.ac.uk for information.

@dudeimreading @AutismSpectAust Have you met autistic people who have different preferences to yourself? We are big Christmas fans in my all-autistic household. Stimmy lights, yummy food, and the perfect predictability of it all. Christmas was one of my children's first passionate interest.

@SueReviews @SMRCResearch You were literally the only thing that used to make Twitter worth it, even when it was better than now. So I’ll join you somewhere in the beyond… if I can work out how.

@Mr_Fish_Art @FWAgvocate I’m the UK too. We do have pharmacists, they are just underestimated as health care providers with expertise. We also have an emergency nurse line - 111. It’s just different terminology. If your son is a child, CAMHS also have an emergency number. If you’re worried, don’t wait.

@autismtalknd Inertia. I’d love to be one of these who just needs a nice physical and social environment and then all their problems evaporate. Not so. Even in the most adapted environment possible I can’t even get a drink reliably.

@MxOolong I think that's all I had to comment on. Drawing a few of those things together, I would say that monotropic interest is captured well, but monotropic activity is not captured as well.

@autismtalknd Answer the question ‘how should parents talk to their children about their ethnicity’ and do that. No special talk or handouts. No stigma. Just everyday differences between people.

Interested in the views of autistic folks! How should parents/caregivers best discuss autism with their autistic children?

@emily_ladau @Marriott I am an able-bodied person and I cannot tell you how many times I was given a mobility access room and I went to the front desk to ask to be switched to a standard room, being told they couldn’t and “but it’s a nice room, more space!” Like. I. Don’t. Care.

Hi @Marriott! Wondering if you might need a refresher on the definition of "guaranteed" because my reservation does indeed guarantee a room with a roll-in shower and I got a "hearing accessible" room with a bathroom I barely fit in. Why does this keep happening? Fix your system.

@SueReviews @MxOolong @scrappapertiger I also may have uses if it's sufficiently sorted inside of 3 months. I'd like to explore to what extent monotropism contributes to inertia, along with quite a few other possible factors.

@SueReviews Also @MxOolong, @scrappapertiger and others. Is there a preprint of the article? If not, can one of you email me a draft? I promise not to leak it. It's just that I have a lot of questions that are likely better answered by reading it than by bombarding you with them.

Important thread on our recently published (open access) monotropism questionnaire. In a nutshell: monotropism is super interesting and important… …but our questionnaire is NOT a new way to classify who is / isn’t autistic.
Sonny Hallett@scrappapertiger

A bit more on this #MonotropismQuestionnaire thing. I’ve been emphasising that the new quiz is NOT an autism assessment not bc I’m making an academic point or bc I’m trying to be overly precise, but because I believe that there can be harm at this stage from using it that way.

@MxOolong I'd be interested in whether your analysis leads to collapsing a few of the questions because it's quite long and repetitive at the moment. If shorter, I would have uses for it. I'm also interested in the Discord. Send me an invite?
