@AutismBookClub As someone who has been a “born again” Christian since her teen years. I would say mostly great with the occasional blip. But such is life in communities filled with fallible humans. I do think it’s lovely that in different denominations there is a space for everyone

I qualified as a nurse in January, I’m also a qualified midwife. I’ve been applying for jobs when they come up (recruitment freeze has made them few and far between). I applied for a practice nurse position that welcomed newly qualified band fives. Multi stage process

I got so far through the stages & then didn’t quite make it to interview. Which is the employers prerogative of course. I’m just at a stage of ‘what more can I even do?’ It’s so incredibly frustrating & demoralising. #nurse #midwife

@carmenjoyimes I have been really pondering on his actions as I work through 2nd Samuel & why he acts as he does with the Tamar episode. We get hints that his relationship with his family isn’t the best. My opinion is that his time with Saul & co is one of the more happier of his life.

@AutisticMidwife Good point! And yes, I think David is oblivious at first. He's just making his power play without realizing that he has become exactly like Saul.

I have a question @carmenjoyimes with regards to your work on the Bathsheba narrative (if you don’t mind of course). I often wonder what David’s reasoning was for the whole thing? What did he think was going to happen? Do we get any hint within the text? #biblestudy

@carmenjoyimes I wasn’t so sure about that take if I’m honest. I did think it was super clever the way the opening five verses of chap 10/11 are mirrors of each other. In that David becomes the foolish impetuous king whose actions bring shame. It’s very clever!

@carmenjoyimes The sheer amount of reading/listening/thinking to get my head round this narrative is crackers. Do you get the impression David was almost blind to himself? Also, one commenter states that one of the issues is that David is offering kindness to the wrong people (in chapter 10)

@carmenjoyimes It’s been a hot minute since this tweet, but I finally get it! I actually finally get it. David was mad that Uriah didn’t fall in line with his plan.

@AutisticMidwife Since the main conflict is between David and Uriah, I tend to think that the whole thing is a power play to assert David's manhood over one of his elite fighters.
