How does anyone struggle with this? The massive adult quadruped lying on my rug chewing on a cast-off deer antler is very clearly not a substitute for a human child. If I’d wanted a child substitute, this is really not the way I’d have gone.

@AnnMemmott Very important point. It’s estimated that around 80% of “behavioural problems” in dogs, particularly aggressive/defensive behaviours, stem from untreated chronic pain. Repeatedly being used as an anchor for a panicking human is going to produce repetitive strain. Do the maths.

@AnnMemmott It’s bound to be highly stressful for both the child and the dog; at the very least it would ruin their relationship, and at worst one or both of them could be horribly injured. Terrible, terrible idea.
