This is for all arts orgs trying to rearrange their seating plans to be Covid-safe. PEOPLE DO NOT COME IN PAIRS. If the only single seats you offer are tucked into the corners of your auditorium, I’m fucking judging you. Even after making allowances for the position you’re in.

seeing a lot of "imagine that was your daughter/sister" etc and for once it would be nice for women to simply be treated as humans because we are human and not because you have one like it at home that you don't hate

@MarkValencia @LindaFarrell11 (Which is basically exactly what it says in that blurb you posted.) The only place I ever bother with a table reservation fee is Grange Festival where they really do charge you to sit down anywhere (but somehow their tickets are so much cheaper than Garsington etc, I don’t mind).

@MarkValencia @LindaFarrell11 There are also always unreserved tables in the bottom few tents which are first come, first served and £0. If the weather is fine there is never a shortage.

I’m going to Garsington for the first time this year🤷, any recommendations for the best place to book a picnic table (will bring my own)?

BBC Radio 3 has ended its relationship with Norman Lebrecht following an email to Yuja Wang the pianist described on Instagram as "derogatory misogynistic bullying." Dearie me.

@poorponyowner @GyllKing We overlapped by a month! I stayed (in a rented house-share) until late 2001. Loved that house. It was then sold for I think £155k (3-bed terrace with a garden, 2min from the station). If I’d been another three or four years into my career I could’ve bought it 😕

It’s 8 minutes on the train from Lewisham to London Bridge Rupert & which part of getting our country back involves imagining ourselves as Americans? Twat.

@poorponyowner @GyllKing Ladywell was my first London address (1999 - I moved to London right as both the Jubilee Line Extension and DLR Lewisham extension opened). I was quite startled by how bougie it felt the last time I happened to be passing through!

@sweet_laughfish Easy enough to make a list: - eggs - whole cucumber - handful of some kind of nut maybe? Brazil nuts? - 1 rotisserie chicken eaten in under 10 minutes - family sized thing of macaroni and cheese (the container is 1 ingredient) Why, the options are bountiful.

@sorcererpds @PostOffice "E" for "envelope" which is stationery. That's how I remember it, anyway. Like "S" for "surgeon" for Practise.

After my complaining about theatre marketing/social media folk that don't know the difference between programme and program or principal and principle, here's the @PostOffice not knowing their stationery from their stationary.
Post Office@PostOffice

@jdblackhall Hi, just to let you know, stationary isn't a service we provide. The store in which a branch is situated might but we don't sell or offer stationary.

Guy on a Lime with headphones in speeding through a red on Bishopsgate by Liverpool Street station, despite dozens of pedestrians crossing. He almost clips a pedestrian, who taps him softly. Outraged, the cyclist turns around and shouts ‘fuck off’. Criminal penalties please.

@UllPetrus I’ve heard that the @CityPolice are pretty good at this, but perhaps Bishopsgate, which is the edge of their territory, is not where they usually hang out

@GarethDennis @probablyonabus (I figured it was probably like at Paddington when an Elizabeth Line train randomly starts from the main concourse, but at least I know how that works…)

@GarethDennis @probablyonabus I came here to see if someone already said Stratford. I thought I was familiar with it (even though I HATE it) until recently when I got stranded and missed an Overground train because it was randomly going from a different platform than Platforms 1 or 2 where they normally are.

@jennyeclair @AnointingN_ Me too! (Admittedly I’m originally from the North. But loads of London people do. And also I suspect when people thank their driver on Northern buses it’s partly because they’re grateful that there’s a bus at all… 😉)

@emilysheffield @GrantyHamster You need to get in the real world, you must be in a proper middle class bubble. Plenty work in industries that working from home is not an option. Retail, care, factories etc only about 10% or less of the workforce is fully remote . And our schools start at 8:55

This is crazy! When did the tax payer have to fund parents for parenting? Breakfast clubs were MEANT to be about helping the most vulnerable children in society NOT giving middle class mums “me-time” or extra housework time?? When they are about to tax the living hell out of everyone again?
Department for Education@educationgovuk

What would you do with an extra 30 minutes in your day? 🤔 Free breakfast clubs are transforming mornings for 500,000 children - that's 95 precious hours back each year while children get a nutritious start to their day. Part of our Plan for Change ✨

I won’t be touring for a good while, certainly not in 2026/27- I’m down to my last 4 gigs of Jokes - a matinee this pm at Norwich playhouse - outside is one of my favourite Barbara Hepworth statues - it’s such a nice domestic size and would look great in my garden
