10 years ago, this is what an Audi RS5 was. A naturally aspirated V8 revs all the way to 8500 RPM. And the way it builds power is just smooth and even. That’s what makes it special. Look at the rivals: W205 C63, F80 M3 are both turbocharged. This wasn’t so this was screaming compared to the muffled noise from the Mercedes and M3. And you can hear the difference immediately. The sound alone puts it ahead. Compared to newer cars, it’s the same story. They might be faster. But they don’t sound like this when they have gone more quiet, downsized and use filters because EU wants them.

@NicholasLedger5 The E63 looks more subtle, an RS6 can be seen from the badge, with the red. The E63 is just the same colour for the rear badge and that ads to the subtlety.

10 years ago, this is what a hot hatch looked like. Small, light and simple. 189 hp, 7-speed DSG or 6-speed manual. Doesn’t sound like much, but the MK5 VW Polo GTI offered really well in a tiny package. in a car this size, that power is enough to make it go fast. It feels quick like a rocket ship and tight around corners. This is what makes it fun. because you don’t need huge power. Just a small car that actually wants to move. Compared to newer cars, it’s simple. No extra weight and no unnecessary complexity. Just a proper hot hatch.

Audi A2. A car you probably forgot existed. And that’s strange because this was ahead of its time. Aluminium body, lightweight and maximum efficiency to achieve 100 mpg. Built for efficiency before it became a trend. The design was unusual, looked more like a blob, but it was functional. Didn’t really fit what people expected from Audi at the time. And that’s where it struggled. It was smart, but not appealing. So people ignored it and maybe went for an A6 or A4. And today, it’s one of those cars you remember… but never really talk about.

@allmirvelovic The timeline doesn't make that much sense. But it was one year, so I will say they we're competitors.

@1Percenterer C63 came out in 2008, the E90 M3 in late 2007 for Europe and 2008 for the US. They can’t be competitors when the B7 production ended in 2008.. they competed more with the B8 RS4 and RS5 all 3 were only ever sold together for 1 year (2008) compared to 3 years for the B8 lol

@1Percenterer I prefer the M's, but in this case my choice would be the Audi RS. Because of the AWD -> You can drive on snowy roads for skiing with all equipment onboard and still go for rally mode...😉

@1Percenterer 2003, knew it from new, X50, sport seats, PCCM, etc. Essentially an 'S' before the S came out in 04. Fully built GT2RS gearbox, fuel, etc. 2WD conversion, 3100lbs, approx. 600hp. 7 of them in North America, then in 2004 when it became an S, 244 of them. Mine is a rare unicorn.

Porsche 911, 991.2 The last 911 before everything changed. Still modern, but not too modern. Compared to the newer 992, this feels cleaner and more connected, without going too far into screens and digitalisation. There are still the physical dials for the speedometer and tachometer. It’s still a bigger 911 compared to older generations like the 997. But it hasn’t gone too far yet. The design keeps more of the classic elements too. Things like the side intake details that newer cars started to lose. The 992.2 might look sharper. The new 911 might be more complete, but the older one looks like it has more life and isn't looking as fat. Btoh are modern 911 GT3's, 992.2 on the left is the GT3 Touring and the 991.2 on the right is GT3 CS.

Because: Mercedes has more displacement, it looks better and like a sleeper, both look like sleepers anyway. But Merc is more subtle. The interior is better as well and feels more luxurious. But the Audi feels more secure with Quattro. But I am in favour for RWD, so its E 63 then
