Our chromebooks are one example of E-waste! Instead of our school giving us new ones each year, we reuse the same one for all of our years of schooling! This is very beneficial as it reduces e-waste which reduces a lot of toxic waste! #apeswaste@franklinlorax
Being stuck at home we have been creating more garbage and waste. We are eating a lot of food and cleaning out many parts of the house. We are making sure to recycle the necessary materials. @franklinlorax#apeswaste
Every year my family goes to Mackinac Island. When there, we have to be very mindful of what we throw away because the island doesn't have a landfill and they charge you for the trash you create. This promotes recycling on the island. #apeswaste@franklinlorax
When we drive, our cars emit gases like NOx, which pollutes our air. This is seen as anthropogenic because it is human caused. With quarantine, we are all driving a lot less which is helping our air quality! @franklinlorax#apesair
@AH511299apes@franklinlorax Very true! The decrease in NOx emissions currently is benefiting the environment. It also is decreasing the amount of anthropogenic gases in the atmosphere!
when we drive our cars NOx comes out of our tailpipes and into the air that can pollute the air. to have less of the this we can carpool with other people, ride our bikes, or walk to places to reduce the amount of NOx realeased into the air. @franklinlorax#apesair
Staying home has caused ppl to drive less, reducing carbon emissions. However, more ppl are running/walking so they are releasing CO2 into the atmosphere themselves. But, this is better for the environment than driving as less greenhouse gases are emitted. #apesair@franklinlorax
Quarantine has caused less cars to be on the roads and less NOx emissions. This also has caused less anthropogenic greenhouse gases to be in the atmosphere! #apesair@franklinlorax
@brennan_staude@franklinlorax Unplugging electronics when not in use not only saves the environment but can also save your family money on their electricity bill. Great work!!
I always make sure to unplug chords that are not being used around my house. I try to unplug chords as much as possible to save energy, because burning coal for electricity increases air pollutants! #apesenergy@franklinlorax
@StauberNatalie@franklinlorax Unplugging unused electronics saves you money and also saves the environment! The less electricity used the less fossil fuels will be burned which reduces the amount of carbon emissions!
So many things are constantly plugged in at my house because of all our electronics. We should try and unplug things that aren’t being used. You could save about 10% on your electricity bill by unplugging unnecessary appliances. @franklinlorax#apesenergy
one way i conserve or save energy is by turning off lights, tvs, and unnecessary things plugged in that can save or conserve energy! if everyone does this we can save so much energy! @franklinlorax#apesenergy
Sometimes I like to turn off my lights in my room so the natural light can filter in my which means shutting off coal powered lights and conserving energy! #apesenergy@franklinlorax
Smoke stacks like this one produces CO2 emissions, which can be harmful to the environment. There are many alternative types of energy that can be used that do not produce CO2 emissions, such as hydropower. The less emissions the better! #apesenergy@franklinlorax
@ApesRylee@franklinlorax This is also a great example of smart growth! Having houses and everday services close together has many benefits for not only residents but also the environment!
Downtown Milwaukee contains high density housing. This means there’s lots of apartments/condos rather than houses. Here in Franklin, we have low density housing because most of us live in houses separate from our neighbors! @franklinlorax#apesland
@RodeMckenzie@franklinlorax Because so many trees are used it is important to practice sustainable forestry and not clear cut forests. This way we can have trees to prouduce paper forever!
here’s some printer paper that my family and i use everyday! paper is a huge reason for why humans continue to log and therefore it takes a lot of forestry to sustain the logging business! #apesland@franklinlorax
In order to have sustainable forestry practices, it is important to not harvest all trees at once. If only certain trees are harvested there will be time for them to grow back before being harvested again and harvesting can continue forever! @franklinlorax#apesland
@StauberNatalie@franklinlorax Overconsumption and overnourishment are just as much of a risk as undernourishment or malnourishment. It is important to have a balanced diet that will provide you with the right nutrition to live a healthy life! Great job!
Americans have a big problem with overconsumption, while many other places in the world stuffer with undernutrition. If everyone in the world at like Americans we would run out of resources fast! @franklinlorax#apespop
@EmilyKrohn6 Very true! Bikes are a great way to travel shorter distances with no ecological impact. They also can be very fun to ride around town! Great Job!
As humans in the United States we use more resources than any other country. One resource we overuse is gas. One way we can reduce this is by using other transportation. Using Bublr bikes in Downtown Milwaukee is one way to do so. #apespop#franklinlorax
