Verse from Avatamsak sutra and commentary by Master hsuan hua. The Buddha manifests limitless, inconceivable bodies to match the specific categories and classes of these beings.

Aparentemente tanto os budistas tibetanos como os indianos tinham um conceito rudimentar de evolução, inclusive macacos são animais proibidos de se comer por serm similares ao homem

Buddhism has a similar story to the biblical tale of Eve and Adam creating humanity. Tibetan Buddhist stories tell of a macaque and a Rakshasa woman mated and gave birth to many baby monkeys then gradually evolved into humans.

Ibn Rushd greatly admired Aristotle, even though he disagreed with him on several important issues. One of these issues is the exclusivity of reason to men and those who were not slaves. Like the Abbasid Mutazila before him, Ibn Rushd believed in the absolute justice of God, and since God could not justly create humans with unequal intellectual capacities and then limit salvation to those with well-developed intellectual powers, he argued that God endowed everyone with some rational ability, the differences are largely due to whether these abilities were developed or not. And from this notion he developed his theory on why there are three different ways to reach the truth depending one's intellectual abilities, through which God made the truth accessible to all people.

@JudaismUnveiled While the Quran is more well preserved and consistent, the Torah is not corrupted: its itself originated as a diverse oral tradition and was written down as a diverse oral tradition

@JudaismUnveiled The Torah was a redaction of multiple centuries of Jewish oral history and legal tradition The Quran was a remodification of various tales in the Torah for a new, different audience, and has a strong intertextual link with the Torah

Among many things, Xuanzang who visited Kamarupa (Assam) in the 7th century, mentioned that there were 100 deva temples. Today we have no surviving temples from the Kamarupa period, only ruins are there as a reminder. There are reconstructions of how those temples possibly /

Astrologers at the Mughal court used ghati-yantra, a sinking-bowl water clock, to track the time of royal births & cast horoscopes. Consisting of a copper bowl with an aperture at its base placed in a water basin, its earliest mention comes from Aryabhata in the late 5th c. 🧵

Islamists greatly resemble Muslim feminists. How, you may ask? The Muslim feminist argues that men wielded patriarchy to abuse women, and so patriarchy must be abolished to prevent abuse. Islamists have suffered at the hands of authoritarian tyrants, and so they’ve developed an aversion to coercive state power altogether. Both feminists and Islamists are equally traumatised and thus wholly uninterested in entertaining the contextual merits of their respective objects of revulsion. They both hysterically throw the baby out with the bathwater.

People are panicking because the UK is implementing a national ID. My local province of Nova Scotia, Canada long resisted the idea of speed cameras out of fear the govt would unlawfully fine citizens & breach their privacy. And yet, the Muslim world has wholesale accepted the most interventionist measures of government without even holding a discussion. It’s time to have a different dialogue.
