I often asked myself how would I react if I face cruelty personally. I was lucky not to be tested like other Palestinians. Last week my little sister suffered an emergency and had to go to the hospital in the middle of the night. We have no hospital in H2, so we need to go to H1 to receive treatment. During night time the soldiers rarely let Palestinians go through. Only in emergency, and it is up to the soldiers to decide. My father begged in Hebrew, we all cried, but to no avail. We had to go back and pray she survived the night. We went the next morning. We were lucky. Her appendix inflamed to the degree it almost exploded. She had to stay in the hospital for 3 days. She is ok now. But I am not. Something has changed in me. I still believe in peace and co existence, but my belief that all people are good at heart took a hit. 😞
