@DrTedStriker @Virlylestarina It tornado or hurricane but regularly in Cornwall uk they survive 60 to 100 mph winds with only odd slates coming off.

@TheAuthorCSS @Virlylestarina A slate roof is pretty strong. Ours was put on when the house was built in 1890 and recently we had the slate removed, the timber checked and repaired as necessary, a membrane put on and then the same slates put back with less than 20% of replacements required.

@Virlylestarina Looks are one thing. How the roof holds up during adverse weather is a different story. Can it survive a hailstorm?
