@CerebralCereal0 I’ve spoken with dozens of Mormons. It really depends upon who you talk to some hold to a more traditional view like fielding and McConckie. As of lately a lot more are these new “Neo Mormons”. That’s kinda like some ultra universalism.

Celestial Machines - Ezekiel's Wheel of Wonder
How would you know? You dont talk to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the rare instance if you do, you just ignore us or accuse us of things we dont believe or twist something in the most negative way possible. So I repeat. Don't talk around us. Dont talk about us. Talk with us. I will tell you what I believe.

Celestial Machines - Ezekiel's Wheel of Wonder
This is all you gotta do. Don't talk around us. Don't talk about us. Don't pretend you know more than we do about what we believe. Simply talk with us.

@Mericamemed Dude, if you did this, you'd wake up to your windows (car, house, whatever) having been hit with glass etching fluid. Every window made frosted. From there I'd get nasty. Boxes of root cutter grubs in your yard. mouse bait around your house, i'd make your life a living hell.

Hot take: I don’t think deep doctrine exists. In reality it’s just topics people haven’t thought in depth about.

@whitesocksclips You only don't think about them because you’re too busy consuming what they produce. Without those farmers, your sophisticated city life would collapse in three days. Arrogance is easy when your fridge is full, but remember who filled it.😉

@RestoredTruth8 5. believers would be “most miserable.” So the idea of baptizing for the dead doesn’t really fit with what the New Testament teaches about salvation.

@RestoredTruth8 Chuck I think I’ve explained your baptism for the dead proof text before, 1 Corinthians 15:29.

@RestoredTruth8 about being “in jeopardy every hour.” His point is that if there’s no resurrection, then living a risky life as a Christian and bringing in new converts at all, doesn’t really make sense. He even says in 1 Corinthians 15:19 that without the resurrection

@RestoredTruth8 3. Which can mean “on behalf of” or “in place of,” and some understand that to mean new believers are stepping into the place of those who’ve died in the faith, not being baptized on their behalf. That lines up with what he says right after in 1 Corinthians 15:30

@RestoredTruth8 2. The Bible doesn’t teach that baptism itself saves anyone, if you look closely at 1 Peter 3:21, it’s making a different point, so it wouldn’t follow that baptism could be used to help save the dead. In 1 Corinthians, Paul uses the word “for” (from the Greek huper),

@RestoredTruth8 1. The early Christian church didn’t practice baptism for the dead the way the LDS Church teaches it. That idea usually comes from a particular reading of 1 Corinthians 15:29, but it has to be read in context with the rest of the chapter, which is all about the resurrection.

@RestoredTruth8 Not because God bleeds in his divine nature, but rather the one who bled was God become human. So it’s not just “flesh” doing the heavy lifting. The real value of the sacrifice comes from who Jesus is the eternal Son, not from the physical part of him that suffered.

@RestoredTruth8 The Christian point isn’t that Jesus’ human body had some kind of infinite value all by itself. It’s that the person offering that body is the eternal Son of God.

Question for the Creedalists…. In what way can a human create an infinite/eternal sacrifice… since the hypostatic union promotes that only the flesh of Christ was the thing that felt the pain and what died for our sins… where does it say in the bible the flesh is sufficient?

@RestoredTruth8 According to the Chalcedonian Definition, Jesus is one person with two natures, fully human and fully divine. So the suffering and death take place in his humanity, but it’s still the divine Son who’s going through it. That’s why Acts 20:28 can talk about “God’s own blood.”
