Kampania była najdroższą rywalizacją o miejsce w izbie reprezentantów w historii: kosztowała ponad 34 miliony USD Na Gallreina ogromne kwoty wpłaciły osoby osobiście powiązane z Trumpem. Prawie połowę kwoty na przeciwnika Massiego wpłacił pro-izraelski AIPAC i powiązane organizacje. Jak powiedział Massie: „Nie mogli kupić mojego głosu więc postanowili kupić moje miejsce!” Pomimo ogromnej asymetrii finansowania, ekspozycji medialnej i osobistego zaangażowania Trumpa Massie przez całą kampanię pozostawał faworytem. Po raz pierwszy Massie wybrany został w 2012 roku i od tamtej pory wygrywał każde wybory. Aż do momentu kiedy super PAC-i uruchomiły to rekordowe finansowanie zmieniając końcówkę kampanii. USA announces it’s withdrawing 5000 troops from Europe, out of which 4000 will be withdrawn from Poland.
Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe, says an armored brigade is returning to the U.S. (4000 soldiers).
They had until now been based in Poland.
