URGENT CALL FOR HELP!!!!! This is a young medical doctor called Dr Innocent. He’s working as a house officer at the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital in Calabar, Cross River State. Dr Innocent and his other doctor colleagues who are also house officers have NOT been paid for 290 days. Yes you read that right. A whole 290 days of working as a medical doctor with ZERO pay. That’s about 10 months work with NO pay. According to Dr Innocent, The Ministry of Defence has refused to pay their salaries for no reason. This young medical doctors are being worked like slaves while receiving ZERO pay. They have nobody to speak for them. They have nobody to fight for them. They are suffering and dying in silence. Please if you see this tweet, Kindly retweet, share and tag General Christopher Musa the Minister of Defence, and also please tag the Ministry of Defence, I don’t know these doctors personally, But we can’t watch evil and say nothing. Please don’t let this young doctors suffer in vain, they have families who depend on them for support and survival, It will only take you 2seconds, Kindly retweet this post. This is the little we can do to help these doctors from the evil injustice done to them by the Ministry of Defence. Pls share and retweet. Thank you.

Here is the exact timeline leading up to Dr. Wisdom Oghenetega’s tragic passing: • Thursday, May 28: Tega collapses. He undergoes blood investigations within the facility and immediately requests sick leave. The request is denied. • Monday, June 1: Still seeking clearance, he completes an ECG and Chest X-ray to finish the full list of requested medical investigations. • Monday, June 8: Despite being visibly ill, he is forced to do a 24-hour call alongside a pregnant Medical Officer. • Tuesday, June 9 (AM): He is heavily reprimanded by superiors for sleeping at 10 PM in the call room instead of staying awake until dawn. He openly reminds them again that he is sick. • Tuesday, June 9 (PM): Exhausted and ill, he misses mandatory evening games. • Wednesday, June 10: While still battling symptoms, the administration serves him a formal query for missing games. • Thursday, June 18: Tega submits another formal letter requesting leave. • Friday, June 26: After a three-week administrative delay from his initial request, his sick leave is finally approved, and he is allowed to go home. • Saturday, June 27: He arrives in Calabar and immediately proceeds to Asi-Ukpo Memorial Hospital for further medical tests. • Monday, June 29: Tega passes away. The claim that Tega didn't take his health seriously is completely false. He did every single investigation they asked for. He followed every protocol. The only thing he didn't do was rebel.

"Explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against you for absenting yourself from Tuesday's evening games." While people online are busy blaming a dead 25-year-old doctor for "not taking his health seriously" or claiming he didn't follow due process, this is the actual reality Dr. Wisdom Oghenetega faced at the Military Hospital in Port Harcourt. A formal query. Signed by a Lieutenant. Tega was actively deteriorating and fighting for his life, but the administration was more concerned about his "ability to function under constituted authority." This is the toxic, militarized chokehold Tega was trapped in. The narrative that he ignored his own health is absolute gaslighting. Tega did not neglect himself; he was actively blocked, questioned, and pressured by a rigid administrative system while trying to manage his illness. This was the query he received. See his official response attached below. 👇

"With the way this government is going, I may not even be alive to contest the 2027 election. Every single thing I do for a living, this government is deliberately frustrating. I face frustration every day. They recently locked my car at the airport." —NDC presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi

"He failed himself" "I don't understand, they tied him there?" Ironically, these are the same people who will insult healthcare workers for delays in the hospital and say the profession is “a calling” whenever poor working conditions are brought up. They’re also quick to label healthcare workers as quacks or incompetent when a patient dies because of a lack of resources, even when those failures are systemic rather than the fault of the people providing care. You’ll get to a hospital, be told there’s no doctor on duty, and immediately start insulting the nurses and doctors. Yet here you’re asking, “Who tied the doctor there?” the same doctor who stayed behind to attend to you despite his health? Dear HCW, don't lose your life for any patient!!!
