With the gaming community overwhelmingly protesting the end of physical media, Moore’s Law Is Dead noted that finding genuine accounts defending the decision was incredibly difficult. When he did find accounts aggressively pushing for a digital-only future, further inspection revealed suspicious, automated patterns: • Artificial Activity Spikes: Long-dormant accounts suddenly became highly active right after Sony's announcement. • Unnatural Phrasing: The posts used unusually formal, business-like language to praise anti-consumer practices. • AI Generative Profiles: Many of these "cheerleader" accounts utilized AI-generated profile pictures. • Interlinking Networks: These accounts heavily promoted and interacted with one another, after which several associated accounts were completely deleted.

The launch trailer for Denshattack, one of 2026’s highest-rated indie games, has also been flooded with comments about PlayStation’s disc decision instead of the game itself.
