After months of unsuccessful engagement with Israeli authorities, and in the absence of assurances regarding the safety of our staff we have concluded that we will not share a list of Palestinian and international staff with Israeli authorities.

Israel has knowingly given MSF and our Palestinian colleagues an impossible choice: either we provide staff information or abandon hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who need vital medical care.
To continue providing aid in Gaza and the West Bank, MSF has informed Israeli authorities that we are prepared to share a defined list of Palestinian staff and international staff names, subject to clear parameters with staff safety at the core. This is an exceptional measure. This follows extensive discussions with our Palestinian colleagues and would only be carried out with the express agreement of the individuals concerned.
Our priority remains the safety of our staff while continuing to provide essential healthcare to those in dire need: msf.org/msf-statement-…

We’ve re-opened our wound care clinic and resumed clean water distributions in Gaza City, in the north of the Gaza Strip. Our return to Gaza City comes after an initial suspension of activities there at the end of September:

@SanderSassen @karel_hendriks @AzG_nl ChatGPT:

On Sunday night, Al-Helou maternity hospital in Gaza City, which our teams support, sustained severe collateral damage from nearby attacks. This came despite multiple assurances from Israeli forces that the hospital was not in danger.
At the time of the impacts, inside Al-Helou hospital there were, among others, 12 newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit, 5 patients in internal medicine, 2 obstetric patients and 54 staff members, according to the Ministry of Health staff.
Due to the proximity of tanks to the hospital, medical staff decided to relocate patients to the basement for their safety. This decision prevented patients receiving shrapnel injuries.
During the attacks, which continued throughout most of the night, a pregnant patient went into labour. She delivered under extremely stressful conditions and experienced postpartum complications. Both mother and baby are now stable.
A maternity hospital should be a place of hope and new beginnings—but in Gaza they are overshadowed by stress and uncertainty. Even in the midst of an offensive, hospitals should be protected. We call for an immediate halt to the violence, and concrete measures to protect civilians.

Earlier today, two Israeli strikes hit Nasser hospital in Gaza, killing at least 20 people. Jerome Grimaud, our emergency coordinator in Gaza, shares his reaction:
“We denounce in the strongest possible terms Israel’s horrendous attacks on the Nasser medical complex today – the only partially functioning public hospital in the south of Gaza. Israeli forces killed at least 20 people and injured 50 more in consecutive strikes, including healthcare workers, rescuers, and journalists.
“Among them was Mariam Abu Dagga, a freelance photographer who frequently worked with MSF. We are heartbroken by her death. Mariam leaves behind a son who must now grow up without his mother. At least four other journalists were also killed today.
“Some MSF staff members were forced to shelter in the laboratory as Israel repeatedly struck the building amidst rescue efforts. We are outraged as the Israeli forces continue to attack healthcare workers and journalists with impunity.
“For the past 22 months, we have watched as healthcare facilities have been levelled, journalists silenced, and healthcare workers buried beneath the rubble by the Israeli forces. As Israel continues to shun international law, the only witnesses of their genocidal campaign are deliberately being targeted. It must stop now.”
