NEWS: US House transport committee head wants to collect EV fees for highway repairs. Representative Sam Graves, said he plans to take up a multi-year bill in early April. Last year, House Republicans ​proposed a new $250 annual fee on EVs and $100 for hybrid EVs ​but it was not included in a massive tax and ⁠spending bill. The current five-year surface transportation law expires on September ​30. "We would like to get money from EVs," Graves said at a ​U.S. Chamber of Commerce infrastructure event, saying he expects the five-year bill to include $500 billion to $550 billion in funding for highways and bridges. usnews.com/news/us/articl…

@SawyerMerritt Federal gas tax is 18.4¢/gal. Assuming a 25 MPG car and 12k/miles per year, the average gas car pays ~$88/year in federal road taxes. $250/year is WAY too high for EVs.

In a culture that idolizes being "right", I want to be comfortable acknowledging when I'm wrong. I believe in what I do at EvanMiya.com, but there are always going to be misses. My biggest miss recently: I thought Texas Tech was going to really struggle without JT Toppin. They dropped to 40th in predictive ranking after the injury news. In the three games since his injury, it looks like they haven't missed a step. I love watching Texas Tech play and I hope they continue to defy the odds. Happy to be wrong!
