@spaceshark23 @Dolfijnmanjohns Outside of places like Twitter and certain parts of the internet, the game appears to be going strong, albeit with a lot of stumbles and self-inflicted issues. OTOH, they're releasing plastic to retail. That's hardly something I'd call a failure result from a KS.

@Dolfijnmanjohns i never jumped into TC cuz i'm an old white man and don't like change but i specifically remember it stumbling out of the gate when they burned off all the goodwill with chuds during the discord drama and then the developer themselves doubled down on it

Trench Crusade is a great examples of cool designs with no proper lore to back it up. It blew up bc of it’s amazing designs and art. It got people invested into it bc of these aspects. However as we tried to get into TC it became clear that the lore was terrible and inconsistent and no care was put into it. This is why it flopped. If 40K didn’t have good and fun lore and only had overpriced miniatures and cool designs and art it would’ve ended up like TC. Lore is essential.

@Dolfijnmanjohns Trench Crusade's designs are pretty much just the "Blanchitsu" aspects of 40k, cranked up. That's why it got the motion that it had/has. The guys behind it though have made some interesting choices, and while it's less popular here, they're moving into retail plastic production

The background has always been interesting, but nobody was walking into a GW for decades because they wanted to buy "the lore"

Bookmark this. Marathon will see a big influx of players during the first week of Season 2... at least for those who haven’t already refunded the game on Steam. Don’t expect it to break the current peak of 88,337. Realistically, we’re looking at 50,000–70,000 at most, in line with typical Destiny numbers. Also expect the same drop off as well. Ultimately, a bad game is still a bad game. First impressions matter. Unlike No Man Sky, Bungie has a $765 Million Impairment Loss stapled to it's forehead. Sony doesn't have the time & luxury to sit around and and find out what doesn't work.

Lore is everything with 40K. Nobody talks about Heresy, the Emperor saving, or the planet breaking before the guard did because of the minis. The lore gives the game its vitality.
