@CombatPigeon96 for rocket technology to displace the Earth even a few inches off its current course youd need to cover every single square foot of the Earth in rocket engines and they'd need a fuel source that rivals nearly the entire mass of the planet lol. it's not possible in any way.

@CombatPigeon96 Well technically, any motion would do this. Walking, running, riding a bike, etc., but the amount of energy exerted is not only being canceled out, added, etc, it's so negligible it essentially has no impact.

@Alex_Diaz_68 The capsule isnt dropping straight down for starters. Re-entry is at a shallow angle allowing the greatest amount of time for the atmosphere to do most of the braking. Parachutes are used at the end of descent to apply further braking.
