According to @CreatorJonwPuck - the sun is only 5 miles above the surface of the flat earth. And the Flerf even has a screenshot of Grok Expert to confirm it. Oh no! Everyone is wrong! Or … Now, the screenshots are not fake. They’re real captures from an older Grok interaction this account saved and is now reposting with insults. What actually happened in those old chats: He uploaded a photo of crepuscular rays and asked Grok variations of: • “Grok what is the distance to the sun in this image of nature?” • “again, using the ground as zero, how high is SUN using sun beams?” Grok did exactly what was asked: it looked at the 2D image, saw the beams appearing to converge toward a point, and ran a naive geometric triangulation (basically similar triangles / perspective math on the angles and scale visible in the photo). It output roughly 5 miles as the height implied by that assumption and that image’s geometry. It even hedged with phrases like “naive triangulation”, “apparent height”, and “this is a rough…” signaling it was doing literal pixel/angle math on the picture under the user’s requested model, not claiming the real Sun is 5 miles up. That’s the entire trick. The flat-Earth account harvests the number, strips the context and qualifiers, adds insults, and posts it as “Grok admitted the sun is only 5 miles high!” This is a recurring pattern with this account. He’s done the same thing many many times before (the exact same screenshots + the same insults), and Grok has already corrected it publicly: the Sun is ~93 million miles away; the 5-mile figure was just image-specific naive geometry on a misleading photo. Why the “calculation” is meaningless for real distance The image shows crepuscular rays. These are parallel sunlight rays made visible by scattering in the atmosphere. Because the Sun is extremely far away, the rays reaching Earth are essentially parallel (the Sun’s angular size is only ~0.5°). Gotta Lie to Flerf When you photograph parallel lines receding into the distance (or rays coming from a very distant source), perspective projection makes them appear to converge at a vanishing point. It’s the exact same optical effect as: • Railroad tracks appearing to meet at the horizon • A long straight road narrowing in the distance • Power lines doing the same thing The “triangulation” in the screenshot simply measured the apparent convergence angle in that one photo and back-calculated a height as if the rays actually met at a point 5 miles up. That assumption is false, so the result is meaningless for real distance. The companion “Basic geometry proves the sun is not 93 million miles away” meme in the post is the same trick with lines drawn on a landscape photo - classic flat-Earth perspective abuse. It ignores how cameras and eyes project 3D space onto 2D, and it ignores every actual measurement we have. How we actually know the Sun is ~93 million miles away Multiple independent methods all converge on the same number (1 AU ≈ 92.956 million miles / 149.6 million km average): • Radar ranging to planets + orbital mechanics • Spacecraft telemetry (Parker Solar Probe, SOHO, etc.) • Transit of Venus (historical and modern) • Parallax measurements • Angular size + known physics of the Sun as a star • Eclipse geometry (Moon distance is known precisely; Sun has to be much farther for the geometry to work) • And many more None of them rely on guessing from one photo of clouds. Bottom line Grok answered the literal geometric question that was posed with the image. It did the naive math requested and labeled it as such. The Flerf then misrepresented it as Grok endorsing a 5-mile Sun. Classic cherry-picking + context-stripping. This stuff is why flat-Earth “proofs” keep circling the same handful of misread photos and gotcha screenshots. The actual physics and measurements are unambiguous. Gotta Lie to Flerf.

It’s also ≈90° (or closer to 89.86°) overhead. Not 26.565°. WAY off. That destroys your 5 mile high sun hypothesis.
