Yet again, I remind you that if you work in cybersecurity, you will never not benefit from learning packet analysis. Yes, there are tools for that. But when they fail (and oh buddy do they fail), your ability to perform independent analysis is critical.

@MalwareJake I say this all the time -- I get "it not right when we 'search' them" or "to hard to locate XYZ". It's bananas.

Pro tip: set your logs to be all UTC. This will save your forensic analyst (who bills by the hour) the trouble of having to convert timestamps (and even figuring out which timestamps are in which TZ). It also keeps them ordered correctly when forwarded to a SIEM, especially from multiple TZ's.

My role was eliminated, and I'm in search of a new job.

@xTRYB_Media I can't argue with this. I had someone call a civ in who had to drive in from off base. The process took several hours only for him to reset a device. He told the military persons how to do it but they refused. I didn't know which device (wasn't my equipment).
