Previous emulators had to deal with the weird special hardware old consoles had, like the Cell Processor. Modern consoles are just regular x86_64 machines running Windows (Xbox) or FreeBSD (PS). In this case, all the "emulator" has to do is translate the system calls from FreeBSD, and Sony's graphical APIs (if they don't just use Vulkan) to something your PC can handle, which is 1,000,000x simpler and lighter than the full hardware emulation that you used to have to do.

A Discord user named RSantila has reportedly managed to boot Astro Bot on PC using SharpEmu, a PS5 emulator for Windows PC.
Astro Bot is a 2024 PS5 exclusive, so seeing it even boot on a PC is a HUGE!!! PS5 emulation development is moving CRAZY fast.

There isnt evidence of mass abuse. his percent is that because of his game not the pro consumer system.

Bloomberg gaming journalist Jason Scheirer and other gaming analysts don't think Sony is going to continue with physical games, despite fan outrage.
Jason lists all of his reasons in a new video while some gaming analysts say even if 500K cancel their PSN subs, Sony still has around 50 million subs. That's less than less than 1% of the business.
They are counting on people just accepting the all digital future because of their brand name and size.

@DRIP_OR_DRWN @FujoshiTgirl @drpepper_33 people have worked on projects alone for a long time. Youre really downplaying humans saying its not feasible. Many of our most popular emulators are primarily created by a single person with a little feedback and help later on.
