A United States federal court has sentenced Nigerian-born education executive Nkechy Ezeh to nearly six years in prison for stealing $1.4 million meant to support vulnerable preschool children and low-income families in Michigan.
Prosecutors said the funds were diverted from the Early Learning Neighbourhood Collaborative (ELNC), a non-profit organisation she founded, between 2017 and 2023. The fraud reportedly led to the collapse of the organisation, leaving 35 employees jobless and disrupting support for hundreds of children and families.
In addition to the 70-month jail term, Ezeh was ordered to repay the stolen funds and more than $390,000 in unpaid taxes after pleading guilty to tax evasion.

I am in Accra at a filling station and fuel is about GHS 16.64 per litre (around ₦1,900). Everything is expensive, especially food—prices keep rising daily. Nigeria is one of the cheapest countries in the world, and under President Tinubu, it remains the strongest economy in West Africa with cheaper goods compared to here. You can’t easily make millions here.

I think most of us Europeans don't appreciate this enough: Whenever we want, we can take the car, drive to Austria, Italy, or France, and stay as long as we wish... We can hop on a train to Paris by night to have a coffee with Eiffel tower views in the morning... We can take a €12 plane to Milan and enjoy an Italian pasta on a random Saturday... As much as my brain says Europe is lost - we HAVE to keep fighting for our beautiful continent... Blessed to be European ❤️
