We expect NVIDIA may have begun considering CPO introduction starting with Rubin Ultra in 2H27, specifically for scale-up interconnect within the 576-die architecture. Within this architecture, compute trays and switch trays will continue using PCB backplane connectivity, while rack-to-rack interconnects (Kyber) are likely to transition to CPO-based optical interconnect in one form factor, due to advantages in power consumption, latency, density, and cost versus AOC.
