REVEALED: MI6 ran a molehunt in the 1990s after a CIA lead that the Russians had recruited an MI6 officer. Fears were of 'another Philby'. The hunt went on for years and was ultimately labelled 'inconclusive'. More details in the "The Spy in the Archive" - out in the UK next week

Much of Syrian composer @MalekJandali's music is inspired by the protest chants of the 2011 uprising. Today, he hopes the fall of Assad can create a "symphony of peace" A real privilege to produce this interview with @BBCTimFranks. Listen here from 39:30 shorturl.at/PyAMS

I've just done extraordinary interview with South Korean MP Hong Kiwon from inside chamber of parliament: - he had to scale wall, with help from protestors, to get in - he'd been asleep when wife woke him to tell him news: he couldn't believe it 1/2 bbc.co.uk/news/live/cn38…

More than ten years ago, I interviewed Fethullah Gülen. It was one of those interviews was a very big deal at the time.........but where the top line remained elusive. Maybe that was the point. bbc.co.uk/news/world-eur…

Regarding today's BBC World Service piece regarding where people get their news, I have three main sources, and you, @BBCTimFranks, are my absolute favorite one. (I do miss hearing you, though, @raziaiqbal.) Cheers, all!

@Ostrov_A @bbcworldservice Good evening, Arsen. We were very grateful that you offered to do the interview, but we stood you down when we managed to get a former Israeli Prime Minister on to explain why he thought the ICC prosecutor's application was wrong.

Quite a shame. @bbcworldservice cancelled my interview, informing me only 10 minutes after it was scheduled to start. Very disappointing! This is more or less what I would have said about the #ICC warrants to @BBCTimFranks audience, had I been given the opportunity to do so: "Today is a dark day for justice. The decision by the ICC Prosecutor to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant, is an egregious and unconscionable perversion of the law, and an unimaginable reward to the murderers and rapists of Hamas. The IDF has gone to unprecedented lengths not seen in the history of modern warfare, to abide by the laws of war and avoid harm to civilians. There is absolutely no comparison, none whatsoever, between a genocidal terrorist organization like Hamas and a democratic state like Israel, seeking to defend its citizen and rescue its hostages, following the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. To draw such equivalence, as Prosecutor Khan did, is quite frankly, abominable and morally repugnant. Moreover, it needs to be underscored that this decision will present a direct national security threat to the UK and severely curtail every democracy fighting terror by exposing them to spurious and unfounded charges, based purely on political considerations. It should also be noted that the British government has condemned the ICC's shameful decision, reiterating “As we have said from the outset, we do not think the ICC has jurisdiction in this case. The UK has not yet recognised Palestine as a state, and Israel is not a State Party to the Rome Statute." The government also added that these warrants will not help get the hostages out or aid into Gaza, nor for that matter, deliver a sustainable ceasefire."

About to go on @bbcworldservice with @BBCTimFranks, to discuss the outrageous decision of #ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan, to issue arrest warrants against Israeli PM Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant. 🎧 Listen here: bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/li…

@BBCTimFranks Aren't you on the late edition of Newshour anymore? Managed to tune in these past few weeks for the first time in a while - missing your dulcet tones; although they played an interview with you I presume from the afternoon edition tonight...
