SAF is just RD 10 years ago. Problem is it's costlier so it's more inflationary to scale with a finite amount of global feedstock.
The appeal is lack of carbon abatement alternatives. Its hard enough to electrify long haul heavy-duty trucking, let alone commercial passenger aviation.
It's hard to see the carbon craze let up. However I feel environmentalists wildly underestimate the economic burden of the energy 'transition'.
You're trying to 'regulate' advances in the technology stack, however its shown some may never reach cost parity and even become incrementally costly.
We're at a crossroads: you can't manufacture cheap low carbon fuel.
Until a technology gets there it's a fools errand to mandate it. You sacrifice energy security (Europe, California) that invite vulnerabilities and cripple industrialization.
