Most economic indicators are largely exogenous to the president, who in reality has few levers and typically unfairly gets blame or credit. But for the very few levers the president actually has, Trump has made them all worse. Tariffs and the Iran war were both self-inflicted.

The meat of the SAVE Act cannot make it through reconciliation w/out violating the Byrd rule. Setting rules on state-run elections is facially not about changing the federal budget even if there are indirect effects. Grants to states that voluntarily do SAVE is a maybe, however.

After multiple murders by ICE/CBP, Ds refused to provide more $$ for them w/out reforms & oversight. Rs were opposed to reform & unilaterally provided $$ through reconciliation. Now ICE has enough to run at 4x capacity through 2029 — w/ even LESS oversight. This is the result.

Was chatting w/ one of the regulars at the park who’s a diehard Trump supporter. He used the standard line, “If Trump cured cancer, people’d still find a reason to attack him for it.” I said Trump was actually illegally defunding cancer research. Got an “ah well, nevertheless.”

There are incredible new cancer drugs every year that are showing promise at defeating cancers that were previously guaranteed death sentences — and the Trump administration is doing everything it can to illegally kill the grants that fund the research. MAHA indeed!

Second bullet point is way off base. The OBBBA's tax provisions reduced projected revenue by $4.5 trillion. Business provisions account for less than 1/3 of that and an even smaller share went to what we would traditionally call corporations.

again, big picture, donald trump won an election about affordability and then he - passed tariffs (which raise consumer prices) - expanded the deficit w a ginormous corporate tax cut (raises interest rates) - waged a stupid war (raises gas prices) - and now refuses to sign a bipartisan bill to reduce housing costs bc he's protesting senate republicans for failing to pass voting restrictions ... while making $2 billion from crypto rug pulls that transferred income from his supporters to his bank account americans hate the president for very good reasons

ICE claimed that Lorenzo Salgado Araujo drove his van into one of their SUVs and later attempted to run an ICE agent over. The first thing our local media pointed out was the lack of damage on Araujo’s van. One of the best investigative journalists in Houston, Jeremy Rogalski, found surveillance camera footage showing ICE ramming the van minutes before shots were fired. Congress was gonna ban individual stock trading for members of Congress, but they also wanted the ban to apply to Trump, Vance, and cabinet members. But Trump said he’d veto any bill that banned his ability to trade stocks while in office, so Rs got scared and the bill died.
