Since the Coach Pitino clip has struck a nerve, I did a really deep dive into optimal communication methods, w/ several pro athletes involved & a leading sports psychologist. If you can take a deep breath for a moment, I promise it will be worth your time: youtu.be/LkcTHfEyN-g

@Alliance905 Definitely should've anticipated the press after the free throw during that last time out

@bballbreakdown Horrible coaching by Duke. 10 seconds left 10 seconds to get the ball over half court ... HOW did the Duke coaching staff not say to them JUST HOLD THE BALL. Coaching staff lost this game tonight for Duke. How was that NOT a conversation in the huddle 🤔 Obviously it wasnt lol

There was bad clock management by UCONN to wind clock down on previous poss, but WHO CARES when Duke will do this?? Holy moly what a finish, and freshmen can kill you in the tournament

@royalloyaltii It was much more that they simply did not need to advance the ball past half court but tip your cap to the kid who nailed a 38 footer

@bballbreakdown When your team can’t break a simple press that is the coaches fault not the freshmen’s fault.

@glgreg1 @bballbreakdown Agreed. Coach needs to let his players know what to do in situations, and he failed in that respect

@realjosiah Just a bad decision all around. No need to advance the ball past halfcourt

@bballbreakdown If he completes the pass the game is over. He didn’t execute, it’s on him. But it wasn’t a scared decision.

@castawaySOS @Pearl23X And the key word is CAN. And definitely an all time shot from 38 feet... a shot that never should've been taken

@Pearl23X @bballbreakdown When Coach Nick said "freshman can kill you" he was referring to decision making. Full credit to Mullins for hitting one of the most clutch shots in NCAA Tourney history (as a freshman), but that feat did not involve much in the area of decision making, moreso skill & ice water.

I love Steve Lappas, he's great at his job. It's problematic that he's unaware why Michigan just let the ball roll for a while. Nothing to do with getting full 30 sec shot clock as much as the game clock continues to run, and when you're up big, clock running is your friend.

@bballbreakdown yeah but the rule is bs if the game clock runs. it used to be that you had to pick the ball up within 5 seconds or it was a violation. Fully agree that Lappas is clueless though.

Can UConn run their deliberate offense fast enough down the stretch to overcome the deficit? If they get into 20 secs per possession, they can easily run out of time

@cnewton_ky The rule states that once the inbounder releases the ball, the 5 second count stops.

@bballbreakdown SInce the 5 second count doesn't end until someone inbounds touches the ball, it should be a 5 second count here.

@bballbreakdown I have a question on this. Did there used to be a rule against this? In middle school I did this and was called to 10 seconds. Coach told me 10 seconds start when the ball is in-bounded, now when I first touch it. Did the rule change? Did I get screwed in middle school? Hah
