@mattyglesias The bill did do a lot to streamline permitting as shown by this summary of the recommendations that inspired the bill. New approval timelines are pretty fixed, intervenors will be able to make their case but not materially slow things down.

The Biden Admin is about to release rules for the world's most generous hydrogen subsidy. At stake: whether “clean” hydrogen is truly clean, or an exercise in greenwashing that could cost taxpayers hundreds of billions while increasing CO2. Here's why: canarymedia.com/articles/hydro…

I want to get out in front of future criticism that the show we're soon to release is too long by saying that it probably should have been 2 shows instead of 1,but: 1. I didn't want to drag this subject out another 6 months 2. It wasn't designed that way. Use the pause button.

Yes! To the extent that municipalities have "local control" it was granted to them by prior state legislatures, not handed down on tablets from God. The legislature can revoke that control at any time, and *should* when it is blocking the prosperity of our Common-wealth. #mapoli
Jonathan Berk@berkie1

It’s frustrating to hear people in Massachusetts say “but local control” any time the state proposes even modest zoning changes. Giving communities complete “local control” for 70 years is why we’re in our existential housing crisis. It’s why the status quo must change.

A green loan company has received tens of millions of dollars to recruit and train at-risk youth for green jobs. Here’s how the CEO put it: “What if hiring 1,000 George Floyds could save the planet?” My investigation into BlocPower: prospect.org/environment/20…

The e-bike industry is booming, but the summer of 2023 has brought sharp questions about how safe e-bikes are, especially for teenagers. To some policymakers and law enforcement officials, the technology has outpaced existing laws and safety regulations. nyti.ms/3qe1TPG

On Thursday, scientists at The College of New Jersey said the strange rock that crashed through the roof of a New Jersey house was not of this world. It was a meteorite, likely fallen from the belt of asteroids that lies between Jupiter and Mars. trib.al/OGbOcsq

BREAKING: California will end the sale of new diesel trucks from 2036. The California law is far ahead of the EU’s proposed truck CO2 standard and threatens to leave Europe’s truck industry behind. 🧵
