Humans are innately altruistic, it's an evolutionary trait that allows us to even form the civilizations we have now. It's in our nature to care for one another. As framed, blue is the only moral option and the most logical option if you don't want to have to live in a nightmare dystopia or live with the fact that you killed potentially billions of people including people you directly love. But I've run out of time to keep trying to explain to you why pressing the murder all of the Innocents button is immoral.

That's exactly the kind of cope I was talking about. In the situation is presented we would never be in the same room together, but even if we were you would never be able to convince me to be selfish enough to press red and I would never be able to convince you to be selfless enough to press blue. Enjoy potentially murdering everyone in your life that you love, and enjoy possibly having to live in a world full of only cut throat survivalists who are willing to sacrifice everyone else for their own sake just like you are. I would rather die failing to save hundreds of millions of innocent lives than live condemning them. Especially since I have people in my life whose lives I value higher than my own.

The truth is that if you and I were in a room and we were presented this dilemma for real, I am more likely to convince you to push red then the reverse.

Humanity the way it is is better than a collapsed world full of the selfish and greedy. Also it's literally impossible for everyone to vote 100% red. This is not some sort of difficult thing, it's an impossibility. Innocents are on the line. Hundreds of millions of them. Getting the 50.1% blue is the moral imperative.

Losing anywhere from 15 to 50% of the entire world's population, selecting for altruism and innocence, is not just an immediate threat to our existence. It's a complete societal collapse. Do you have any idea how many industries, infrastructures, and vital parts of modern Life hinge upon only a small handful of people, sometimes one specific person? The modern world would never survive a quartering, let alone a halving. It would probably struggle to survive a decimation.

But I am fine with agreeing that your choice is 'right', in a 'wouldn't it be nice' kind of way. Its not enough to make me advocate for or choose it.

What about hypocritical cowards? I accept that not everyone is going to have the strength of will to do the right thing, but it doesn't stop making it the right thing. It also relies on and unfounded assumption that you will even have that option. That assumption is not born out in the experiment as presented.

Then one of the main reasons you should press blue is because if red wins the vote all of society is going to collapse not just from the sudden drop in population and the vacancy of anywhere from 30 to 50% of all occupations held, but because the world is now going to be full of nothing but people who pressed the kill people button and to know everyone else also pressed the kill people button. A world that actively selects against altruism and self-sacrifice is not long to survive, especially with such a level of population collapse.

That you think that is true explains why you push the red button. You are incapable of thinking beyond yourself, or of thinking of consequences on a larger scale. The world is full of red button pushers. Imagine what it would be if it was full NOTHING but them, and everyone else knew they all pushed red.

There probably aren't going to be any future generations considering you're creating a world that just killed about half of all children, selected against altruism (a trait most common in the Young and in Women) and has collapsed due to The disappearance of approximately 30 to 49% of all people. But hey at least you get to survive with the knowledge you pressed the kill people button in a collapsed society full of other people who pressed the kill people button
