While kidney cancer is more common in men, thousands of women are diagnosed each year, and outcomes can vary based on stage, access to care, and participation in clinical research. Using paired treatment-naïve primary tumors and asynchronous metastases, we found higher Treg infiltration in primary tumors and site-specific pathway differences across metastases. Grateful to my co-authors, collaborators, and mentors for their support and contributions.

@CaseySeidemanMD Train at a residency program with high volume onc. Again, another training quality issue. I agree with you that there may be a need for adv surgical training in onc due to complexity depending on practice environment. Something we need to think about.

@BCottaMD I’m thinking more broadly for all fellowships. Also, not all research years are equivalent. What about SUO folks who want high volume clinical experience but don’t see themselves wanting to continue research- is there any alternative there?

@daviesbj Doing an additional year of fellowship is hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost income. I imagine many want to save that year & extra cost of compounding interest by doing MIS or non SUO onc instead. Maybe if UroOnc salaries were higher than the rest, it would maybe justify it
