My general EPL takes: 1. Arsenal - Osimhen away. Arsenal made all the marginal moves they needed to improve their depth. Used to think beyond starting 11, things were pretty dire but - Trossard, Jorginho, Timber, Rice, Havertz make things spicy, especially for a CL run.

@Dr_EsOs The famous Biscotto match 😂😂. I thought minute 0-75 were excellent. 75-90 were like “ok let’s chill out”. 93-97: madness!!!

@BD1592 Tbf they spent 15 mns just passing it around and then Algeria decided to attack in the 93rd. My main point here is that apparently nobody remembers the history between those two teams. 1982 Algeria got eliminated by Austria & Germany doing exactly what OP is blaming 48teams for.

I still cannot believe some people thought Jude was / should have been benched. It’s the same hubris that made main character syndrome Tuchel not select Trent - while wasting a roster spot on Anderson. I hope they lose! FUCKING LOVE JUDE tho

@ralphganthier Because FIFA just has honestly not out thought / care into designing their tournament. Game design and balance are really hard to get and all of this could have been adjusted with better thought. The Argentina side of the bracket vs the France side of the bracket is a travesty

The return of the infamous best third-placed teams creates a perverse incentive. This occurs when an economic agent has a stronger incentive to act in an undesirable way because doing so produces a better outcome or a greater reward than acting in the intended or desirable way.
FPL Olympian@FPLOlympian

Mahrez scores in the 93rd minute and celebrates. His teammates were FUMING at him because it meant they would face Spain next. You can see Mahrez realised this and his face changed. So Algeria lie down and concede in the 96th minute so they get an easier path in the knockouts.

Don’t forget that English media spent months trying to create a narrative that Morgan Rogers is better than Jude Bellingham. Speaks volume of their football level extension and how petty they still are for him rejecting every big PL club to join Real Madrid.

People making England XIs without Bellingham starting is an example of why the big decisions matter most. Any of the other small details or tactics would not have mattered one jot if Bellingham was not starting this tournament. Get your big decisions right.

@Dr_EsOs I don’t understand how FIFA let this thing go like this. Should have had a much better algorithm and honestly potentially reseeding based on a combo of in-WC-performance and FIFA ranking lol

Playing for RM has its perks. When we talk about midfield attributes, Valverde is an average midfielder, but RM make him look good. This tournament just exposed who he is ad a midfielder
Zach Lowy@ZachLowy

Federico Valverde should thank Fernando Muslera for being the scapegoat of Uruguay's debacle, because he's been completely below expectations. For one of the best midfielders in the world, he's had a completely disastrous tournament -- the worst tournament of his Uruguay career.

@Dr_EsOs 3) Incredibly uncomfortable with people joining with no connection or as a second choice. 4) ideally priority for homegrown talent!

@Dr_EsOs Mwen vrèman incomfortable avec l’idée que tout mounn ka jwe pou peyi an regardless de lien avec peyi an. Ta dwe gen de guideline: 1) One generation removed from Haitian born parents is fine. 2 is very iffy to me, 3 is a non starter 2) Priorities to get them at yourh level
