This is by far the best tactical set-up of Álvaro Arbeloa era. So many good things happening at once— right rotations, roles, the zip in executions lacking but that’s not on his hands. This been ridiculously good coaching.

I mean — it’s fairly obvious how to get best of Valverde. Unorthodox midfielder role w/ RHS shifts who uses his athleticism to create/attack spaces and is given enough time for execution.

Man City occupied themselves w/ Viní — shifting too far to his side, that opened lanes and gaps for Trent, Pitarch, Brahim and especially Valverde to attack acres of space. Also Viní’s quick release wide is key component to disrupting the sides.
