ATR multiples from the 50MA, coded for TC2000, inspired by @jfsrev & using $IONQ as an example. The custom pcf is: "ABS(C - AVGC50) / ATR14" which I'm using as a line style plot in the bottom pane below chart. Also using an ATR multiple dot plot: "IIF( C >= AVGC50 + 10 * ATR(14), C + ATR(14), IIF( C <= AVGC50 - 10 * ATR(14), C - ATR(14), C*0/0 ))" which will produce a yellow dot at 10xATRs from the 50ma, mirroring Jeff's indicator. I find using both to be valuable, and IONQ highlights why... The pink horizontal line (bottom pane) is set at what has marked the top on multiple occasions. Meaning, IONQ's historical limit to the upside (pink line) is 6.72 ATRs away from the 50 moving average. Worth noting, IONQ never reached 10 ATRs (or even 7), thus the dot plot for the ATR extension would not have appeared. The takeaway is that the dot plot takes into account the upper bound of stocks on average, whereas the line plot takes into account the upper bounds of this specific stock. Using both proves beneficial. Additionally, as Jeff notes, the best use here is not to call an absolute top, but to begin to meaningfully scale out in a systematic way.
