It is no longer an optional layer, it is an essential infrastructure that connects people to services, communities to institutions, and governments to the aspirations of their citizens. Five years ago, guided by the vision of Digital Ethiopia 2025, we made a bold and necessary choice: to build a modern, inclusive, foundational and scalable digital identity system accessible to every resident regardless of location, income, or background. We call this system  Fayda, meaning “value” in our local language. Fayda @IDethiopia is not merely a card. Today, @UNICEFEthiopia handed over 100 biometric registration kits to @IDethiopia , as part of the crucial step towards building an inclusive digital identity.

Fayda for Domestic Travel! @flyethiopian has teamed up with @IDethiopia to allow Fayda ID as a travel document for domestic flights. They aim to introduce biometric processing from booking to boarding, improving the travel experience. Find locations at id.gov.et/locations.

State Minister of @MoF_Ethiopia H.E. Semereta Sewasew and @WorldBank|Ethiopia Country Director H.E. Osmane Dione have paid “Fayda” Digital ID a visit and we thank them for registering to become one of the early 🆔 holders. This key digital infrastructure will serve as a force for increased social trust, good governance, multiple socio-economic benefits including seamless and equitable access to services towards a better life.
