Classic indoor track tactics 💨
Caleb Winders (IN) uses a perfectly-timed burst of speed off the final turn to take the win in the NB Indoor Grand Prix junior boys’ mile in 4:02.56 over Carter Smith’s 4:02.71.
The North Carolina commit clearly likes it here as he also became the 2025 NBN champion over 800m on this very track last season.

These are the moments that we all dream of as high schoolers… 😮 Caleb Winders entered the day with a season’s best of 1:50.88 but knew he had the potential to run much faster. In the penultimate section of the boys 800m, he dropped his PR to 1:46.85 (52.91/53.95). The time held up after the final section and the junior from Bloomington, IN was crowned NATIONAL CHAMPION. 👑

1:46 for 800M
4:08 for 1600M
9:05 for 3200M
All three were by three different boys who are all back on the team as seniors next year. This is a special group!

Anchored by Caleb Winders' 1:48.20, @BHSNTrackXC was fourth in 4x800 relay in 7:35.37 at New Balance Nationals. Bloomington North barely missed Indiana state record of 7:34.45 set by Lawrence Central in 2011. Herriman (Utah) set national HS record of 7:26.12.
