Incredibly bullish on self driving as a whole
80%+ of our driving is FSD primarily in Boston
It’s like being an attentive passenger, most intervention is when I opt to be more aggressive than the car
Meanwhile there’s dozens of people on TikTok driving themselves alongside me
Shaan Puri@ShaanVP
Tesla people.. how much do you trust your FSD? Tempted to use it for every drive - is that normal?

@NathanAClark @LuizFRdeO Did we miss because of transfer fee/structure or personal terms?
Obviously PSG compelling opportunity but does this also tie back to our lack of willingness to pay hire wages?

Mainly it's that they have 10 times the budget but also their coach unexpectedly (to me, at least) made significant changes to his style and they have considerable pull with French players (by some distance the best national pool in the world)

How do the moves PSG made after losing Mbappe differ to what we did with Kane?

@gilbert Meta glasses - pictures feel like the moment and you don’t have to look at your kids through a lens all the time.
Doesn’t fully replace camera depending on lighting but surprisingly big improvement to being in the moment

@pitdesi I assumed they leveraged it into teams video/audio since the call tone is the Skype ringtone but maybe not?

End of an era
Skype could have been WhatsApp + Zoom in one, but it was a terrible Ballmer-era Microsoft acquisition ($8.5B) in 2011, and it never transitioned to mobile.
So much interesting history:
2003: The company was founded in Estonia by the founders of Kazaa, a p2p file sharing service used to pirate music. The Kazaa money meant that they didn’t need to raise VC $.
2005: 54M users, $7M revenue in ‘04 to $60M in’05.
Acquired by eBay for $2.6B!! eBay claimed it would help buyer-seller communication but that never made sense to me, and eBay wrote it down by $1.7B in 2007.
2009: 400M users, 100M DAU, $700M revenue.
65% of Skype was acquired by Silver Lake, A16Z, CPPIB, and Index, for $1.9B, valuing the company at $2.75B. A16Z wrote a $50M check out of their $300M 1st fund, people thought they were crazy for investing in a late stage PE deal.
2011: 600M users, 170M MAU, $1B revenue.
Ballmer buys it for $8.5B. Incredible deal for the ‘09 investors, 3x in 2 years. A16Z looks really smart with early DPI.
At Ballmer-era Microsoft, innovation slowed, Skype never really made the move from desktop to mobile. Skype had poor UI, technical debt and never got much mobile adoption.
Meanwhile, Zoom was founded (2011) & WhatsApp took off.
WhatsApp has 2.5B users, is probably worth at least $100B.
Zoom has 300M+ users, is worth $25B. Still blows my mind that zoom trades lower than it did pre-pandemic, when it had few users (went from 10M to 300M).
The other interesting tidbit is Tony Bates (CEO of Skype at acquisition by Microsoft) was considered a rising star at Microsoft and was actually one of top folks considered to be in the running to be CEO of Microsoft, but left once Nadella got the gig.
Anyway - fun look down memory lane for me, I used Skype a lot in my life. I was dating someone in the US when I lived in India in 2006-7 and I couldn’t afford to call the US from a regular phone at the time so I would spend my nights at a “Skype cafe” in India on the phone with her.
I used Skype regularly until 2018, because it was industry norm for one of my companies. In 2018 they started requiring a Microsoft login and they lost many of the users they had left.
What could have been!

Surprised that nobody ever ended up pulling off this product.

@SawkurGod @robbo277 dream post. In attack the same. In defence depending on how pacy their wingers are. 4-2-1 if pacy and push them to the middle, 3-3-1 if not pacy and push them out to the wings.
